Default Sony REALLY needs to fire some people.

As a huge fan of Sony and the Playstation brand, I really hope they start taking off heads in Japan.

No reason a system that has been out for this long should have such a last generation online interface. They update it to be usable, not good. They claim something called "Home" will be great, but as far as I can tell, that development is being run by monkeys.

How the hell does a company keep a manager who is 6 months late (will become over a year) on something that is holding a whole divison of a company back? Either the funding is not there to make "Home" or a unfarked interface for PSN or the leadership inside the development is bad...

The only excuse I can think of to let a hyper-inferior system like the box keep up on these fronts is that they are trying to do too much... well, by the time they get the ball rolling, Nintendo and Microsoft may very well have better (at least newer) systems coming.

Pisses me off, because I see Sony failing every step of the way in getting its vastly superior system (Every review has said the PS3 GTA4 is better than 360 for goodness sake) to dominate the market. Blu is great, but damn...

Hope they can get their act together.

Online gaming works fine on the PS3. In fact, online with MGS Online Beta works incredibly well and joining rooms is even easier then finding a room to play in Gears of War on the 360. COD4 online with the PS3 is also excellent. All the ps3 needs is in game XMB which is coming, along with voice no matter what you play. That is also coming. Really, the 360 online isnt THAT much better. I just renewed my XBL, so its not like i dont know, ive been using xbox live for ~2 years. PS3 online is excellent and can only get better.

Home can stay beta for another year, as long as they give me in-game messaging and voice chat. It is excruciatingly annoying getting a message in the middle of a game. A few games at least let me reply (Rock Band) without exiting the program completely, but the lack of voice chat in some multiplayer games seriously hurts.

Sony is being really funny about this. With all the delays on Home and promises of an improved network extended. You would think they would give us at least in game XMB. Honestly, what are they waiting for? Home could be a year away for all we know. Does that mean no in game messaging, because no Home?

All that said I don't know if Live is 50 dollars better than the PSN. I am content with the gaming aspect of it. It is just little things they have to work on. It definitely bugs me. The potential is there for a better network.

Home Beta is a lot bigger then you think cant just snap your fingers and it will be made plus they keep adding new stuff to it and its just gone through so much editing its just insane. They have to be able to make it so that it can be safe for people to go on and having to follow some rules so that everyone behaves in it. Sony is really pushy about this Home Beta and once it to be as perfect as possible but at the same time make it into a safe environment

If you call PSN a last-gen online interface you didn't play online the last generation.

We have to remember that XBL HAS had a leg up on Sony's online play. It's been around significantly longer and has more than ample time to improve on its shortcomings. Sony's online capabilities will improve, some great things are going to happen this year.

The tech associated with the network is at least a decade old. Couple that with 360 being a last gen system (honestly, STILL offered w/o HDD, still has lowly DVD capacity... a little better chip set does not make it a whole new generation)...

Also, I love how the first post to say I am wrong is "Sony is going to come out with..."

Good job. That is the point of my post. They should push it faster (spend more money on it, get more or better employees on it, etc) because PS3 should be stomping the hell out of the 360... not competing with it.

If Sony gave us HALF of what they could with no problem, Xbox would look like a damn N64

The HAD a leg up... Sony should have launched with the interface they have now (anyone think some dude at Sony said "yeah, boss, this is the very best we can do..."?) and almost a year and half after launch it should have a system that is FAR past XBL.

BTW, I say "should" as in "I wish it did"

All I want is Sony to use what they have to crush the hell out of Microcrap. I am not a PS fanboy, I am just a Microsoft hater.

Sony need to take baby steps instead of leaping to where no man has been before. Thats the only problem. They tell you about something about 18 years before it eventually comes out. The only reason the HOME world is taking so long is because they are so ambitious.

Unfortunately, I think XBL is about as far as you need to take it. With everything else just being icing on the cake. Get the core aspect of it up, let people meddle with it and go from there.

As for the other two companies releasing new systems. Makes no difference. Nintendo will stay on the other side of the street, Microsoft can't release a new console costing less than $1000 to beat the PS3 and most of the features that would make such a system worthwhile will require great software. That means years of development. Its only worth upgrading the system if the benefits are plain to see. Most people won't buy a system just because the specifications are greater, they want to see real world performance jumps. PS3 is still producing pioneering development techniques and results as I type.

All sony has to do for now is give us access to the XMB while playing a game, thats really the only thing 360 has over the ps3 right now. and where getting video downloads this summer to, so this summer 360 owners will have nothing to brang about anymore, the ps3 will have the same features as live. in game music, freinds, chat, and the ps3's XMB. im pretty sure all thats coming with firmware 2.40 as it has been confirmed by sony themselfs.......so buy june or july we should have everything we want, and if we do get those by july i can wait for home a little wile longer.

Jesus Saprano is there a thread you haven't posted in? Yeah the PSN is better than the PS2's network. Doesn't mean you stop trying to make it better.

10x better than a machine that is almost a decade old? A machine conceived BEFORE THE INTERNET!

If only better by 10x then it is lacking... If only 100 times better than a machine that went into production a couple years after the first internet browser ever, it is suck.

It is amazing PS2 was so forward thinking that internet would be a possibility.
