Default help a newbie with bdp-1400 connected to onkyo 605

Hey all, I am new to this forum, receivers, and the blu ray world and am seeking some help. I just bought the samsung bdp-1400 and hooked it up via hdmi to a new onkyo 605. i am bitstreaming from the bd player. when i play my discs (Live Free or Die Hard which has DTS HD MA or 300 which has Dolby TrueHD), my 605 just shows PCM on the display and reads "HDMIThrough". Why do I not see TrueHD or HDMSTR light up? Am I missing something? It seems like I'm not getting my lossless audio and could sure use some help?

Thanks in advance.
Rob

Your player is able of bitstreaming the audio formats...I am guessing you will have to go into the BD players menu and change it to bitstream...

Hello fellow St. Louisan!

You also should check make sure the listening modes are mapped correctly. If you go into the receiver setup mode, you can select "listening modes." Map each input type to it's corresponding output mode. This should force the receiver into the correct mode.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the advice. It now works. You were right about the problem with the LAN hookup, KingLeer. I burned the upgrade onto a disc and tried again tonight. Voila! It works and I see "DTSHD MA" light up. It's beatiful. Thanks for your help everyone.
