Default Biggest Movie Letdown

What was the movie you most anticipated to only let you down when you saw it?

Mine would be Star Wars - The Phantom Menace. I remember spending days watching the trailer online and then camping out in lines to get the tickets. After I saw it I was so disapointed as a kid, that I couldn't sleep the whole night.

Why am I not surprised (not you chris) the title of the thread. I would say I find it odd (but at this stage, this direction doesn't surprise me on here anymore) that letdown is asked, not what you were most pleased with. It has happened a couple times recently, negative before positive.

Were the people who were let down by Man of Steel also let down by Superman Returns? It seems like people either:
1. like both films
2. like Superman Returns but not MOS
3. like MOS but not Superman Returns

I'm sorry, I'm new here and was just trying to contribute. The reason I ask that question is because me and my friends always have a lot of fun joking about how hype I was about Star Wars TPM. I guess I never really atributed negativity to that question, even though it obviously does.

Skyfall

Being a big Bond fan, it had to be one of my most anticipated movies of all time and Adele's theme had me even more excited. It didn't live up to my expectations and the fact that it was spoiled for me prior to seeing it didn't help.

Do not worry about it Can be a good thread if everyone minds their P's & q's & keeps it civil. BTW ~ I can help them do that

Most recently? Man of Steel was a pretty epic letdown for me. Of all-time, I'd have to say Spider-Man 3 sucking was tough because I was such a huge fan of the first two movies. I'm only 19 so The Phantom Menace was amazing when I was 5 so it's hard to say that haha.

My 8-year-old self was super, super pumped for Roland Emmerich's Godzilla, which obviously turned out to be a huge disappointment.

Another one is Ghost Rider. Very recently, The Counselor.

I was pretty excited for wolverine as it's based off a comic story I love so much but the movie was trash.

Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions - Both pale in comparison to the original, but Revolutions was a huge letdown

The Last Airbender - there are no words

Dark Knight Rises - It was incredibly dull, and has very little replay value compared to TDK and BB.

The Hobbit or how Peter Jackson tried to make The Hobbit a LOTR film, and lost the innocence and fun of the original book along the way

Spider-Man 3 was one of The big ones for me, as I was a big fan of the first two and a big fan of Sam Rami. Although I grew to start liking Phantom Menace later on, the opposite happend with Spider-Man 3.

Add Spider-Man 3 to biggest let down for me. I try to go in with limited expectations and stay away from the hype machine (which is generally over by the time I buy them on Blu) but I expected so much more from spidey 3. Emo Parker was VEY annoying, and I loved the idea of venom...plus I think Topher Grace is an excellent actor in the righ role. Eddie Brock was not the right role.

It had some good qualities, not many, and sandman was the redeeming quality in the film.

Overall, a big let down. I felt like only the guy who played sandman (Thomas Hayden Church) really cared about the movie and actually tried.

I'm about to go to bed so I'll have to think harder about it later but yeah, Spider-Man 3 was one of the biggest let-downs for me. I don't remember if I was as excited to see X-Men: The Last Stand but I definitely left the theatre disappointed after that one as well.
