France Legendary AKA Legendary : Tomb of the Dragon 3D Blu-Ray (2013) [Region Free]

Legendary was released on 3D Blu-ray in France, Brazil and Germany. There may be others released elsewhere also but these editions are confirmed as REGION FREE and include English audio.

Original post:
Legendary Tomb of the Dragon 3D Blu-Ray came out a few days ago in Germany.

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Legen...Blu-ray/80766/

It's a native 3D film from the same people who did the last Universal Soldier in 3D.

Anyone take the plunge and get this? It's total B-grade shlock but it might be a decent 3D romp if it is strong.

I missed this thread when it was posted. Sounds interesting. If it has strong 3D if someone reports it, I'll have to take a look. Thanks.

It's not out in Germany yet - this is a French release. I have it on order, but it hasn't arrived yet.

The last Universal Soldier 3D film was one of my biggest pleasant surprises last year, so I'm hoping I'll enjoy this.

Is any of the creative team the same then? I also loved the last Universal Soldier (and the one before that too).

Please let me know your thoughts as soon as you get to watch the 3D blu. Am waiting to pull the trigger on this one.

That sounds good. And glad to hear Universal Soldier 3D turned out with worthy 3D. They only brought out the 2D version over here sadly. Otherwise I would have checked it out.

The release in Germany / Austria plays in the USA. I wrote about it a while back last year:

Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning (Germany / Austria)
plays on both Regions A & B so it is probably Region Free. Here's another 3D version not currently listed here at blu-ray.com, and I'm not seeing it available to order via amazon.de either. I'm not sure about the region coding on the UK steelbook, but this one will play on US players. I'd never seen a Universal Soldier film before, but - wow - I really enjoyed this - an ultra-violent, gory, smart "Manchurian Candidate" / "Memento" mash-up meets an action-packed grindhouse flick. I picked it up solely because I was curious to see the 3D and expected little from the movie, so this was the biggest surprise of the year so far for me. Sadly no USA 3D release (a disturbing trend!) - but this will play on US players and is worth it for the solid 3D presentation. If you're looking to pick this one up, do a search using the barcode: 4260041335431

Here's a link to the the site's US 2D release review:
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Unive.../58361/#Review

There is also a 3D edition from Hong Kong that is Region A and will work in the USA. It can be picked up from yesasia:

My copy arrived on Thursday and we watched it last night.

Legendary: Tomb Of The Dragon / La Crypte du Dragon 3D (France)

It obviously plays on Region B players and that is what I watched it on. I've swapped my USA Region A PS3 in our home theater set up for a PS4, so I'm waiting for Sony to add 3D BRD playback to the PS4 before I can test for 3D region A playback.

- But I did check to see if it will play in 2D on the PS4 (3D & 2D are on the same disc) and it works, so I think we can safely say it will play in 3D in US players. As far as I can tell, the movie has only been released on 3D BRD in France. It comes with a slipcover and is nicely packaged.

Other than stars Scott Adkins and Dolph Lundgren, I don't think anyone involved w/ Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning was involved with this and if you go into it expecting something like that, I think you are sure to be disappointed.

Tonally, this is a much lighter film - ALMOST family friendly. With the exception of a somewhat mild autopsy scene (no worse than something you might see on CSI these days), the movie struck me as something I would have loved as a 10 year old boy - which I think is okay - and once I realized this, I enjoyed it for what it is. It's not as wacky (or cheap) as an Asylum / Sy-Fy film, but it is pretty corny.

The 3D is native and looks great. Near the end, the big lizard's head pushes out of the screen for a few close-ups.

I'm glad I have it and it was a worthy purchase for me.

Here's a link to it on amazon.fr:

Just finished my Brazilian blu-ray 3D of this movie. The title of the movie appeared in french so I'm going to assume that this is the exact same master that was used for the french 3D blu-ray in the above post. No forced subs on this one and it is A+B zone.
3D was very good throughout the movie, but the movie itself was just ok. I'm a big fan of the two main guys in the movie and the price I paid was very cheap so I'm happy I added this one to my collection.
One thing I noticed is that there was no option to watch the movie in 2D and if I set my bdp-s6700 to 2D only the movie would play with a lot of stutter, so in other words, it is unplayable in 2D.
However, I decided to test it on my region B bdp-s6500 and it played flawlessly in 2D so it must be a problem with the bdp-s6700.
Here is the link if someone wants to get it.

Brazil Legendary 3D Blu-ray (2013) [Region Free]

Legendary was only released on 3D Blu-ray in Brazil, Germany and France.

The Brazilian release is REGION FREE, plays in English with no issues and it's already out of print.

I have this in my basket as I type. I'm just seeing what other 3D titles I should add to my basket to save on shipping costs. Any suggestions?

*I already have Ratchet & Clank, Gnome Alone, The Finest Hours, Free Birds and Coco (all bought from this seller apart from Coco) :-)

Just snagged this after watching the trailer. Love Dolph, love giant monsters, love native 3D — looks like a winner to me!

I like those movies. I take it these are bad auto conversions?
