i have...the savings is in how much you use it....if you stop buying soda alltogether and use only the soda stream, then yes, you will save tons of money...
the biggest for me was the energy drink...red bull is so expensive and this saves me money that way. |

I do, and while the pop for the most part isn't anywhere near as good as say name brand, or even kirkland brand, if I want say a Diet Grape soda, I can make one and not have to pay $7 for 12 of them.
For the most part, I use it for non-cola things, Grape, Orange, Crystal Light, Kool-Aid, etc... If you only carbonate the water as directed (3 Buzzes) then your tank should last you a fair bit.. you can trade them in for a new tank and save $10 or something too on your new one. |

I got one last year for Christmas. Used it for about three months--now it's in the basement collecting dust. All of the syrups I tried (about 20) tasted horrible and nothing like the drink they were mimicking. The only exception was the energy drink syrup, which tasted a good bit like Red Bull. I don't drink a lot of energy drinks though, so it doesn't really matter. Overall, it was fun for a little while, but not a good substitute for store-bought soda.

The Sodastream seems seems pretty expensive to me. I've been making my own soda for a couple of years now with just a 20lb CO2 bottle, regulator, and 2 liter bottle adapter. The whole setup cost me about $130 and I've made over 400 liters. We usually just drink regular carbonated water or we add some juice to it. I've tried the sodastream flavors but none of them are very good. When you factor in that the flavors are about $6 to make 12 liters it's about the same as buying a bottle of coke on sale (not counting the cost of the unit or CO2).
