The list of very odd M cert titles is numerous, especially violent action films from the late 80 to the early 90s. The first three Lethal Weapon movies (the fourth, which released in 1998, is MA15+), Predator, Red Heat, the first three Rambo films, even Hellraiser--yes Hellraiser--all of these are M certs which should probably be MA15+ (or in the case of Hellraiser, R18+, I really don't know what happened there).

Forgot all about Hellraiser - every time I the Umbrella release in stores it raises a chuckle from me when I see that ratings logo.

Predator also looks kinda goofy with its M rating when placed alongside the (previously?) R-rated sequel.

Roadshow cut Hellraiser down from an R to M for its cinema release, then released it uncut for VHS.

Yes, but it's still an M, uncut, which is what I don't understand...I mean Hellraiser has the same Australian cert as this.

No it's still an R. Umbrella have just put the wrong classification on their release.

Correct. It's an R18+ for sale and hire in it's full 90+ min run time. From memory a couple of minutes were trimmed to make it an M for theatrical release.

Ah, I see it now on the classification web site. Interesting, then, that it is still being sold with the M cert, you think that they would have at least placed an R18+ sticker over the cover and revised the online images...

Yeah, I mean if Fox were so strict as to send out a new sticker for this Die Hard release just to re-phrase the type of violence attached to the MA rating, you'd think Umbrella would get an R-rating out onto Hellraiser. Or at least change the cover for the next print.

Wow so good to finally have the whole series on blu ray, particularly the uncensored 4.0.

Does that mean this release is the uncut version, it appears to be listed as the copy available in that collection in the database

I wish I could but I have the US release. I was thinking about buying the AU release but only if I knew it was also the uncut version, which I think it will be.
