Hey so yeah, I got the new PSP and hooked it up to my TV and I must say I was quite impressed with the quality... okay its like hooking up a PS2 with the composite cable but for a handheld console on a 42" screen I wasn't expecting it to look at all good. Its very watchable for UMDs and playing games isn't half bad either.
Now here's where I want Sony to take notice... I want a new PSP add-on and firmware update that will allow a USB controller (with a mini-USB A port) to be connected to the top of the PSP so that my component cable isn't so stretched. I've got my TV wall mounted with a component cable running to my AVR and the PSP connects to the AVR... the problem is I still have to be sat quite close to the screen because the cable going to the PSP isn't all that long. I suppose I could extend it but.... wouldn't it be nice if Sony allowed you (through way of an overpriced official adapter/ or cheaper third party alternative) to connect a Dual Shock 2 or Dual Shock 3 pad. Think about it, developers releasing add-on packs (like for wipEout) could add a patch to allow vibrations through a DS!! Or how about a simple Bluetooth add-on allowing a DS3 to connect wirelessly to the PS3. That way I can keep my PSP out of the way near my AVR to save leads trailing across my room. Also... if it allowed me to use the PS3 remote (or an overpriced official PSP remote/ or cheaper third party alternative) to control my UMD videos I'd be pretty happy too. Ok, so UMDs aren't the best quality in the world through TV, however I have got friends who don't have PS3 but do have TVs I can connect my PSP to... so, when BLU-RAY --> PSP film transfers come out I can transfer my movie to memorystick and watch it there with the luxury of a remote... or just play games. (Oh yeah, just remembered you're not supposed to take your films to friends to watch... they're for private use only... or so those warning screens at the beginning of movies tell you... therefore I wouldn't be doing that at all. But I think there is certainly some scope for these add-ons). I bought my PSP Slim and Lite to replace my Obese and Heavy model just for the TV connection function in anticipation of FFVII Crisis Core... I really would like to play it with a 'real' pad though. As much as I love my PSP, it's not exactly the most comfortable controller in the world for extended sessions. Anybody else got any views or ideas... or know how I can get in touch with Sony and demand these features??? |

Actually since you mentioned mini keyboard I've wanted a mini notepad/calender function on my PSP ever since I got it... in fact an organiser that could be sync'd with an organiser on the PS3 would make my life a little more organised... I have a tendency to forget things!

I would like for them to allow me to pre-order and reserve my GOW Chains of Olympus model PSP so that way I can quit worrying about the limited quantities.
I can't resist a RED PSP! That's the one thing that motivated me to finally get a PSP.. All the other stuff it can do is just a kick butt bonus. |
