Not sure what your definition of contemporary is...music from the last 50 years? Not contemporary with the film, evidently.

Contemporary is definitely the wrong word for me to use. I mean, music that isn't purposely made for the film ie. not a score or composition, so no Williams, Zimmer, Elfman etc.

Goodfellas has several moments, Then He Kissed Me with that incredible tracking shot, Gimme Shelter in the paranoid coke sequence, great stuff. I don't have a favorite, but these are pretty good:

(could've chosen several from Moulin Rouge, I suspect)

I was pretty sure I was going to love this movie from this title sequence (and I was right):
