Wow. Must be a a stunner in 3D then if you can't imagine seeing it again in 2D.....when that is all we have had for how many years??!!!?

Watching this tonight. Will post my thoughts later. Thanks for your input i007spectre.

Its not out of this world 3D, it's just that such a good job was done in the conversion process in my opinion.

My local Walmart still doesn't have this movie in stock. Went Monday night, they said they didn't get any in, do I figured they might have some by the weekend, so went back Friday night, still nothing. Might just have to order from Amazon, but I don't know if I would rather get this or HOW.

Got a copy from Amazon (faster than I thought), sampled a few scenes, and it's good, clear professional 3D.
I was thinking it wouldn't look too different from setting the Conversion feature on the TV set, but no, the depth has a good natural look to it.

(And yes, the Witch does point her finger "out" of the screen at Dorothy's little dog, too.)

Yeah, my Walmart still has zero copies of Wizard of Oz...not just the 3D, but any of them. They have had empty slots for it since release day. Given that other retailers don't seem to have that issue this appears to be a major clusterfudge in Walmart's ordering or distribution.

In the meantime, note that wbshop.com has it for 25.11:
http://www.wbshop.com/product/wizard...fType=&from=fn

Its over $25 so shipping is free. Use ANYCODES5 (again its over $25) for $5 off and you have it direct from WB for $20.11. If you also use ebates they give 4.5% cash back for WBshop purchases so that's another 90 cents refund.

Thanks. $20 was my price point. Looking forward to viewing this in 3D.

Mine finally came today (in flawless mint condition no less) and I LOVED it. The 3D is quite clean and its a wonderful enhancement to an already wonderful movie (yes, I'm punning you) that drew me in that much more. Beyond that no one went crazy with the DNR controls, colors are vibrant without being pushed into some weird cartoon level of brightness, we don't have Flounder screwing up a song, and even the slipcover is actually a 1 disc slipcase (from the side, not the top/bottom) making it just a little more special. A really fantastic release. WB did good on this one.

When I was a kid, we still had B/W TV. That was how I saw it for MY first years...

Just got through it in 3D, and yyyyeah. I'm with the OP, it's pretty hard to go back.
It converts better than recent movies, because it's already about the characters in 3D space--Unlike some SFX heavy action movie where the characters run from re-rendered CGI FX, the scenes consist of the actors in front or in back on a 30's soundstage, and there's already a sense of depth. The 3D conversion simply brings out that sense of comparative space, and makes it seem more "real", like actors on a stage. (Ie., when Oz tells Dorothy to "step forward!", she DOES.)
Know some family members who just got Blu-ray, though, maybe I'll give them my old 70th for Christmas.

Got mine from Amazon last week. Watched it with my wife and thought it was a really good 3D experience. We both grew up watching Oz once a year at Easter whenever the network aired it. Clearly this is the best it has ever looked. I thought the 3D content in the black and white first 1/3 of the movie was extremely well done. The 3D in the opening scenes when she lands in Munchkinland was a bit of a disappointment to me. But after she is on the yellow brick road and meeting up with the Scarecrow, the quality of the 3D got much better.

My disk froze up twice during the scene when they meet the Tinman. I had to stop the movie and restart to get over it. Don't know if it was just my disk or maybe my player. Although I haven't experienced that with any other of my 3D discs.

Overall, I'm very pleased with this version of Oz. It's a true classic film and has a place in just about any bluray collection.

I really like how they added "depth" to the flat painted backdrops in most of the OZ scenes. They now look a bit more "real" instead of obvious painted flat backdrops. I can see how some "purists" might not like this, but then again, they probably won't like it being converted to 3D anyway!

It really is like watching this classic for the first time again! The 3D just adds so much to the film that I too, can never imagine watching it in 2D again.

Anyone know why this was pulled from Amazon? Looked at it earlier today and when I went back, saw this message:

Item Under Review

While this item is available from other marketplace sellers on this page, it is not currently offered by Amazon.com because customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or the way it's described here. (Thanks for the tip!)

We're working to fix the problem as quickly as possible.

I wonder if this has something to do with the disk freezing up as I had that problem. Maybe I should contact Amazon to see about this.

This looks absolutely stunning and is one of my favourite 3D titles now. I especially like the subtle depth added to the painted backdrops. A conversion done with great judgement and artistry.
