Default contrast ratios

so currently i own a 1080 projector, i love blu-rays at 152". however, i am about to be moving to an apartment and have began looking at 42" LCD's. im only in the market to spend around $1500 so i am now looking at the sharp aquos, my question is that the sharp's contrast ratio is 1200:1 (6000:1 dynamic) and my current projectors is 2500:1. will i notice a difference? is 1200:1 good for an LCD, the bravia is only 2600:1 so is this as high as these LCD's go?

I can't answer your contrast ratio question but I'm curious why you're buying a new tv instead of just adjusting your projector down to a smaller screen. It seems like that would be a cheaper solution even if you have to buy a mount or new screen.

the picture on the projector is beyond superb! i love it, yet when a projector is rated at 2000 lumens it actually only uses between 400-800.... needless to say it looks great in my totally dark basement, but even with a little light the image is washed out, especially in an southern california apartment with a lot of windows.

Thumbs down

I would not reccomend a Sharp Aquos. Despite good reviews, I bought and returned three. All three had from severe-to-slight banding issues, and the last had power issues. (Despite what I've read online the banding INCLUDES the 42" models, as that's what I had purchased. Apparently it is believed that banding only occured in the larger models, but I can attest to that being false) Also, Sharp's customer service was atrocious. If you really care and are a stickler for perfect picture, I wouldn't risk an Aquos. You may not notice the banding at first, but I bet you will eventually! I finally switched to a Philips and am totally sastisfied.
