Default Wally Pfister’s "Transcendence" (Depp, Hall, Bettany, Freeman)

Quote:
Dr. Will Caster (Johnny Depp) is the foremost researcher in the field of Artificial Intelligence, working to create a sentient machine that combines the collective intelligence of everything ever known with the full range of human emotions. His highly controversial experiments have made him famous, but they have also made him the prime target of anti-technology extremists who will do whatever it takes to stop him. However, in their attempt to destroy Will, they inadvertently become the catalyst for him to succeed—to be a participant in his own transcendence. For his wife Evelyn (Rebecca Hall) and best friend Max Waters (Paul Bettany), both fellow researchers, the question is not if they can…but if they should. Their worst fears are realized as Will’s thirst for knowledge evolves into a seemingly omnipresent quest for power, to what end is unknown. The only thing that is becoming terrifyingly clear is there may be no way to stop him.

...this looks surprisingly awful. Hammy acting aside, did they really have to go and make it into a fantasy film? Depp's character can apparently digitally materialize into thin air into black oil. WTF?

I also get the feeling this has been done already on The Outer Limits.

It's called sci fi, not fantasy. Get your genres right.

I think it looks alright. Doesn't exactly get me pumped or anything, but it could be quite good.

Thumbs up

This still has my curiosity. But Interstellar has my attention.

This looks great. Looks like the Nolan films. I guess that means that the DP does have a huge influence on the look of a Nolans films. I wonder what a non-Pfister Nolan film would look like.

The worst movie I've ever seen is Ghost in the Machine. And this trailer unfortunately reminded me of that with its premise. Granted, I'm sure it'll be much better(how could it not?), but I'm suddenly a lot less excited about this film.

I feel like I just saw the entire movie unfold in the teaser trailer... Is anyone else sick of this? It always makes the end result a disappointment somehow.

That trailer didn't pique my interest at all. Quite the opposite to be honest.

The first half of that trailer was interesting, but the second half was just completely ridiculous.

Unless I hear marvelous things: pass.
