Please get back "general discussion" ... - Blu-ray Forum

It seems Blu-ray technology and news could have replaced it, but new topics come very slow ... General discussion allowed you to post there if your topic didn't go into the others, now I'm sure people won't post what they have to say because the categories are too restrictive (and having many more does not help). It was nice to have varied topics about Blu-ray so you could find some you wanted to participate in ... Hope you can go back?

I agree as well. Most of the time News never gets there anyway and stays in the blu-ray movies and discussion forum.

I think General Forum was removed because there was a bit too much off-topickery going on inside of it, so for that sake, it was re-christened with a more defined name, to prevent such rampant random threadery.

Also, things that are non topic should be in the other forum. There really is a forum for every topic that should be discussed here.

In function, general was a mirror of "blu-ray movies"

My "move and merge" is down 50% since the changeover.

Can you give us an example of a topic that wouldn't fit in the existing categories?

I said that "general discussion" allowed to start a topic about Blu-ray but not entirely linked to any other theme (such as Home Theater, movies and release, games and PS3) and it disapperaing will prevent people from doing "general" posts

FWIW, it has been my observation that the renaming/redefinition of the "General" sub-forum has had a very positive effect upon blu-ray.com, in general.

Seems I was right, the more I go to "Blu-ray technology and news" the more I miss "General discussion" ... there are very few new topics everiday when we got a lot in GD, that didn't fit in any other category or in several ones ...
