Angry DVD only releases which annoyed you

We in the UK and Ireland get shafted quite a bit on these dvd only releases, which ones annoyed or pissed you off the most? For me it was Before Midnight for sure, along with a few others..

I don't see a reason why the Sky1 show, Yonderland is son to be released on DVD only? If their other shows like Sinbad can be released on Blu, I don't see why this cant!

Same goes for Christopher and His Kind starring Matt Smith and the Tess of The D'Urbervilles mini-series starring Gemma Arterton - if BBC broadcasts in HD, then they should follow through with a Blu-ray release!

I just thought that the Nebraska Blu-ray hadn't been put up for pre-order, not that it was DVD only. It's a film that benefits being seen in HD. It's surprising especially considering Paramount are releasing it

I'll just have to import it then

It annoys me that they have no plans to release the Friday 13th collection in Europe. Surely there is money to be made?!?!?!?

I also got annoyed that an Austalian movie called the Reef was release in some European countries but not our's. I got the Australian version from Ebay instead.

Yeah no pre-order yet, I noticed that and was annoyed as I missed it at the cinema. It's already a huge shame that only 2 Payne films are available on blu-ray so it's irritating to think they potentially won't release his most visually stunning film on blu-ray. I really hope they make the decision to do it (like Metrodome did with Frances Ha).

A couple that come to mind for me - Prince Avalanche and Bernie. May be a few more but I can't think what they are right now. Blancanieves? Was advertised in some places as 'on DVD and Blu-ray' but only showed up on DVD.

Another vote for Midnight in Paris.

Why do we get lumbered with SD only when seemingly EVERYONE else gets a BD release?!

For all of you saying Midnight In Paris, not being region free I used to be one of you and thought I'd never own it.

Then I got the Australian edition for Christmas (freely available through eBay), which was great because it obviously has an English language cover, and now I'm no longer bothered by the lack of a UK release, so for anyone yet to pick it up, check it out

Persnally I hate that Black Dynamite and Van Damme's Assassination Games were DVD only. I may eventually get the German region B Black Dynamite but the lack of an English language cover and potential issues with subtitling are putting me off.

It's not about being region locked, Before Midnight and Midnight in Paris are available in Europe for example. Most people understand when an indie like Soda or New Wave release a film on dvd but its frustrating when a major don't release Woody Allen's most successful film on blu.

Not just a few bucks, both the player and importing the discs cost more. And then there's 20% tax on top as well as a handling fee if it costs over £15. Not everybody's that rich. (And I do import from the US, so I'm not talking about myself here.)

However if I had a quid everytime somebody posts the phrase "buy a region free player and import it" (or a variation of) I'd probably be rich enough to move to the US, never mind import from it....

At the time, MangaUK's cancellation of Parts 3-5 of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood really pissed me off. It was a double whammy because it coincided with the American Parts 3-5 getting locked to Region A only (Parts 1-2 were A/B), potentially leaving only Australia's more expensive releases as an option for import.

Thankfully I managed to grab a multi-region Technika player from Tesco for £40, so I was able to import the US releases after all. Manga have also slightly made up for it and released the rest of FMA Brotherhood on BD now, for those who didn't or were unable to import.

Dozens of Asian titles, sent to die on supermarket shelves. Some of them not small unknown titles either.

Slightly miffed about V/H/S 2 and the Silent Night, Deadly Night remake both going DVD only here. Guess I'll end up importing them sooner or later.

the sad thing is a lot of these get even in asia, only DVD releases. even more and more of the new movies. and these that are avaible on bluray have either no eng subs or are extremly expensive.. 45$+

It would be awesome if all DVDs that are 'DVD Only' came with a HD Digital Copy as standard. Especially if they have no intention of releasing a BD.

It might bring in more Blu-ray buyers when they see the difference in quality. Although most BDs have SD digital copies. The distributors would have to get those right first!
