It was very hard to come up with one from the past 30 years... Best I could do is:

"The Rocketeer"

Starring Ryan Gosling

Great contest man! Hmmm, tough one.

I'd like to see The Terminator remade(they ****ed that franchise enough with T3 and Salvation) with Tom Hardy as the Terminator, Lena Headey as Sarah Connor and Christian Bale(yup) as Kyle Reese. The story of the first movie, back to basics, gritty neo-noir tension.

Ghostbusters with Will Ferrell and Vince Vaughn. If Murray won't do the project, it's pointless waiting on him for another sequel.

I'd love to see "Super Mario Bros." remade, in animation... with a plot closer to the games.

I love the Stallone Rambo movies, but it would be interesting to see Dwayne Johnson play a modern day Rambo or how about a Predator reboot with him?

A film I would love to see remade is "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians", with either Tim Allen as Santa (it could be done as a fourth "The Santa Clause" film), or Tom Cavanagh as Santa (could be done as a third "Snow" film), or some other older actor who as never played Santa before such as Chevy Chase or Bill Murry!!!

Happy 2014, everyone! Here's to an excellent upcoming year.

Thanks for the giveaway, OP.
I think the Fantastic Four franchise should be rebooted. Spidey-Wardo is a good example of a "too-soon-reboot" that still manages to work, even with the first two Raimi films being good. In the case of the FF, there's no way to go but up.

My ideal cast would be:
David Tennant as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic
Saoirse Ronan as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman
Josh Hutcherson as Johnny Storm/Human Torch
Randy Couture would work as Ben Grimm. The Thing itself would be CGI.

And for villains, I figured they could go two ways:
Benedict Cumberbatch as Namor the Sub-Mariner
Rufus Sewell as Doctor Doom

It's a bit past the 30 year criteria, but it's the first thing that came to mind. A remake of The Great Escape with a cast that would do the originals star-studded one justice:

Michael Fassbender Hilts 'The Cooler King'

Ben Affleck as Hendley 'The Scrounger'

Kevin Spacey as Bartlett 'Big X'

Martin Freemon as Ashley-Pitt 'Dispersal'

Christoph Waltz as Von Luger 'The Kommandant'

Matt Damon as Danny 'Tunnel King'

George Clooney as Ramsey 'The SBO'

Bryan Cranston as Sedgwick 'The Manufacturer'

Tom Hanks as Blythe 'The Forger'

Daniel Craig as MacDonald 'Intelligence'

Ewen Bremner as Ives 'The Mole'

Brendan Gleeson as Cavendish 'The Surveyor'

Benedict Cumberbatch as Willie 'Tunnel King'

August Diehl as Werner 'The Ferret'

Keeping with the Marvel theme, I'd like a remake of "Howard the Duck" by Seth McFarlane. It would be a bit like TED.
