Germany Dawn of the Dead Argento Cut Hardbox

I'm interested in purchasing the Dawn of the Dead Argento Cut Hardbox Blu ray and was wondering if anyone knows what the transfer is like?

I've tried looking up reviews for it online, but can't find any.

I have it. The transfer is not impressive. Unless you are interested in it as a collector, I recommend passing.

Cheers for that. Is there much improvement over the DVD though?

Not really no. The only reason I'm holding onto mine is because it's numbered and limited. Plus it's my favorite horror film and it was expensive. I'm hoping the 3D version of the film will provide new transfers of the three versions as well. The new Japanese Happinet box set is a step up from this release, but not by much. I'd suggest sticking with the Ultimate Edition DVD's for now.

Thanks alot for the info. I have the Ultimate Edition DVD with the Argento Cut DVD, aswell as the Arrow Blu ray release with the Argento Cut on DVD. So, I have copies. It's my favourite cut of the film, so I would of liked a seperate release of it, but I think I will pass on the hardbox, esp since it would cost me $60.

When's the 3D version due?

No problem. $60 is a lot. I'm not sure when the 3D version will hit theaters. I don't think it has a distributor yet.

Yes it is, which is why I wanted to check what the release was like before dishing out the money.

The french BD is slightly better than the AT Argento Cut release.
Also it is not as expensive.
But it has forced french subs with english audio.

What about the Arrow Release? Isn't that better.

Afaik there is no HD Arrow Release of the Argento Cut.
AFAIK: The limited Arrow Box contained the Romero Cut in HD, and the other cuts in interlaced SD.

What region code is the Japanese box set?

Edit: Researched it on the net and found that it's region-friendly.

I would say to avoid it really, it has major contrast and color encoding issues if you read reviews and is far too overpriced. I'd suggest waiting for a proper release.

I agree. It is the worst blu-ray purchase I've made in years considering the price and overall value. The packaging is the best part. The Ultimate Edition DVD 4 disc set from Anchor Bay several years back is superior in my opinion.
