Default A challenge for you experts--a good $350 receiver?

Well this will be a tough challenge I think...I had been looking at getting the Onkyo 717 receiver (I'm confident I could get it for $499) since it has many of the features I like, but in an effort to save a bit of cash I'm wondering what other options may be available to me.

- Must have 3D
- Must have network capability (wireless not important)
- No less than 5.1, preferably 7.1
- Good quality system
- Greatly prefer a GUI configuration overlay
- Would love 4k upscaling (is that possible at this price?)
- Must have Audyssey or something like it to configure speakers.

It's a living room setup.

Right now I'm leaning towards a Marantz NR 1403, and the slimness of it I find to be extremely appealing. It comes in at $399, which is slightly higher than my limit but not too bad I won't consider it--especially if it prevents me having to buy a new audio pier.

I'm looking at buying Polk speakers (15C, 45B, 35B, PSW10 sub) and am trying to keep the entire setup sub 1k.

So, any ideas for you gurus?

No suggestions? Or likely, you're all finding it to be as difficult a task I am...which is what I was afraid of.

The NR 1403 is out though, somehow I missed that it does not have network capability. So back to square one.

I'm not opposed to refurbished either, I expect that will be how I can get the best bang for the buck.

I have the Marantz in my basement and I just bought a Yamaha RX-V475 for the living room. Very happy with the Marantz (you're not looking for network?). Not finish configuring the Yamaha yet and still have to test it further. Got it at BB (Canada) at 350$.

CNET recommends the Sony STR-DN840 at that price point. 4k, 3D, Wireless, Bluetooth, 7.2, auto-speaker calibration, 6 HDMI inputs. The GUI is very primitive. Was $373 at Best Buy last time I was there.

If you do not mind refurbished point your browser in this direction:
https://www.accessories4less.com/index.php

Here you will find Denon and Onkyo receivers that offer everything you are looking for within your budget.

Harmon Kardon has an official refurbished eBay store...

You may also find some goodies at your local Best Buy in their clearance section.

HTH Good Luck.
