more or less the same as the first one , but with less character development , i thought the second one was more graphic though if thats what floats your boat.

Default Hostel Part II BD - Awful picture quality

I was very disappointed with the PQ of Hostel Part II on Blu-ray. Easily the worst I've seen. I'm not sure if it was intentional, as both Hostel movies have very dark colour schemes, but there are just some scenes that have either been transferred or encoded so badly that there's just no way on Earth that the filmmakers would have shot it like that. The awful transfer is most apparent in the scene with Lorna and the girls in their beds at night talking about wanting to go to the hot springs. Anyone else own this and are experiencing really bad PQ with it?

To those who don't own it, seriously think twice before buying it.

Not only horrible PQ, but a horrible movie to go along with it.

Both Hostel movies were made to be horrible movies. It's intended for audiences who enjoy pointless blood and gore. And also, I didn't notice the difference in the picture quality of how bad it was. But I gotta tell ya, the ending of Hostel 2 hurt my manhood

I really liked the first Hostel. I purchased Hostel II the day of release and is probably the worst BD that I still own.

Hostel II is an awful piece of trash, can't stress that enough. Feel bad for anyone who enjoyed it...and spent money on it

Hostel Part II is so much better than the first that I almost cannot express it in words. The first film is about 10 times more gory and horrible (the only scene in Hostel II I found particularly horrible was the scene where Lorna is sexually tortured), but in this film they focused on and actually tried to make it more than just a ridiculous sex, drug and gore-fest with no plot. The first film is a lot scarier and feels more like a traditional horror film, but it's also intensely flawed.

Part II is not as enjoyable as Part 1 but not as bad as some make it out to be. It is more gruesome but doesn't have as much shock value as Part 1 to me. I bought Part 1 and am very happy with it. I just rented Part II but would consider buying it someday on a BOGO or something.

Agreed. The second is more social commentary than a simple horror film, and actually more like a satirical condemnation of the so-called "torture porn" genre Eli Roth helped create. I didn't like the first one at all, but the second one had something to say, was funnier, and actually entertaining instead of just unpleasant. For me, Hostel II is the the final word on the genre, and the only masterpiece with it.
