I know this might not be the right forum, but hey we all need to sleep!
I'm way overdue to get a new mattress. Currently we have a coil mattress and start to feel the springs popping out. It's a few years old and becomes really bothersome (keep tossing and turning and wake up a few times during the night). I'm a side sleeper as where my g/f mostly sleeps on her back. We have tried a few but are really unsure of what to get and each store you check at the sales associates tell you something different.... it's almost like going to car dealership! ![]() The only things we do know - it needs to be queen size to fit the current frame and be somewhat firm. Any suggestions? What do you use? I was mostly checking out latex mattresses but heard that you need to make sure that they are all organic as some people actually developed allergies towards "processed" latex. |

Horses for courses and all that,a mattress is something I think you just have to go and try yourself and make a decision on what is most comfortable to you.
We got a new one about two years ago and it still feels great,I can't remember what exact type it is but it was costly but worth every penny. As my granny always say's "invest well in your shoes and a mattress because if your not in one, your in the other" ![]() |

I'm in the same boat as you OP and will be following this thread.
My mattress is on it's way out and I think I have about a year left with it but it's been exactly 10 years so it's done pretty good but that's also probably due to the fact that I bought a foam top. I have been using a Latex bed from IKEA, the SULTAN and have been pretty happy with it. |

Currently have a Sealy pillowtop, firm yet has some give. No issues nor complaints. Whose house/ apt is it? If its hers she should dictate the purchase if its yours you should dictate the purchase.
I'm sure you can compromise but unless you are planning on getting married or have a long term living together arrangement your sleep should come first. Either way I saved about $700 bucks by using http://www.1800mattress.com/ HTH Good luck |

Thanks for all your input! It's much appreciated!!
I did a little more research and hit up a few stores this past week to check out the mattresses. Honestly I am not a whole lot further along than before. Checked so many different ones (several brand ones compared to low end "no name" models... coil vs foam vs latex etc) Might end up getting a bit of a lower end Ikea one for now as a bunch of vet bills came in and will revisit all the options again in a few years. I have one from Ikea currently which only lasted about 3 years, but I got a really good deal on it when I bought it. I talked to them as well, and if I manage to bring it to one of the stores they might be able to check it out and see if the damages are normal wear and tear or whether there is a possibility to get the warranty kick in (which would be sweet!) |
