Default Does it matter which HDMI cables you use?

So I am fairly new to bluray. I have a 720p 26 inch LCD HDTV and i was told that if i get hdmi cables, the picture quality on bluray will look even better.
So does it matter which kind i get? There are cables for like $5 on amazon.com and then on circuitcity.com its $50

...to answer your question?

most likely the amazon cable will be fine. If you do not want to wait for the shipping, then just go to a store and get one. Me personally, I would not spend more than $30 on a cable. Thats just me.

I bought a 5 dollar after shipping HDMI cable off of Amazon, it works great. I also bought a cheap Toslink cable, works great as well.

So were you using the Yellow cable as implied in that other thread, or Red Green and Blue?

HDMI should look slightly better, I don't think it is going to be anything drastic though. Most people in that thread thought you were using composite (yellow cable) to hook up your stuff.

I have three $5 cables I bought off WOOT. Nothing special, and they're each 9ft. I have one on my cablebox @ 1080i to my Bravia 46 / and one from my media pc to the same screen. Images are clear and colorful - no noise.

Don't spend $80 at best buy on a cable.

There ae some really stupid cable prices out there. I needed a 5M cable for my HTPC setup. I got one one (in the UK) from Ebuyer.com for £5, some branded cables were over £100 for that length!

Any cable should work that distance. If it is a long length, should be more careful.

I have bought nothing but cheap HDMI cables since the day I got my first upconverting DVD player. I have not had a single problem with them. (Call me old fashioned, but I will NOT pay even $30 for a cable, let alone the $90 to $100 that Monster charges for theirs.)
