Thumbs up HD DVD Players in Canada (Not Yet Available)

I just walked into a Future Shop today and I was browsing around the DVD isle and I noticed two HD DVD players on sale one was an LG HDDVD player at $649.99 and the other I believe was a Pioneer HD DVD Recorder for $749.99. So I was interested to see if they had any set up so I could view the quality. I was told they haven't set up any demos yet. I went to the DVD section and asked if they had any HD DVD's released and no one even knew what I was talking about. Even though HD DVD has been released no one really knows much about it. I think this gives Blu-ray an advantage when they come out with their players if they advertise it right and have demos set up in the stores more people would be inclined to buy them.

You must be mistaken, Pioneer does not support HD DVD.

I think you need to go back and check what you actually saw. It might have been LG and Pioneer, but definitely not HD-DVD players/recorders. The only products announced so far for HD-DVD is the Toshiba HD-DVD players and they won't ship until mid-April.

Perhaps they were dvd players with HDD, (Hard disk drives). As far as I'm aware, the first 2 players are to be from Toshiba, out on the 28th of March and for $500/800 USA dollars respectively. Recorders are to foolow, probably next year.
