I believe that once your movie collection gets to a certain number (above 50) it becomes quite difficult to remember what movies you have in your collection and may end up buying what you already have or loosing track of who you loaned a movie out to.
What software do you use to manage your collection? |

I use the site here.
It's FREE!!! ![]() ![]() and have more options than I need. Love the collection statistics here and that I can sort by different options. I usually use the sort by recently added option and love the price I paid for blu-ray showing up on the list. If I see I bought too much or paid too much on certain title, it may help me to wait on certain title to get cheaper. I'm still buying too much, but I think it would have been worst without it ![]() ![]() And I don't buy any duplicates at the store anymore. |

I've got a big chunk of my movies on Blu-ray.com's collection feature, but I've got every Blu-ray entered into a basic Microsoft Excel spreadsheet with a variety of data included for each title, arranged alphabetically by year (with each decade color-coded), so it's easy to find movies of any given year. Other sheets in the file have lists of DVDs (which I haven't updated in some years, unfortunately), of cartoons on DVD (arranged by year, title, and studio) noting the discs they're on, another of HD shorts included on various Blu-rays, and of Blu-ray features by country. One of these days I need to do a sheet for non-animated shorts on DVD as well, to make it easier to find shorts by subject or date to play along with features.
I also keep another spreadsheet of the movies I watch in my basement home theatre, keeping track of lamp hours, format (Blu-ray, DVD, laserdisc, VHS, or 16mm film), audience size, as well as which friends are over to see which movies. |

I use My Movies. It generates a catalog that can be viewed online (see my sig), and I also have the app downloaded on my tablet. I love that people can easily browse through my movie collection without having to physically scan through my media shelf. Since I'm short on storage space, this also allows me to ditch blu-ray cases and organize most of my discs using sleeves.

DVD Profiler is huge and very easy to use. I like the way we can add our own tag and sort the movie the way we want. Also, there is a lot of stats possibilities!

The local collection database and app are great (I use them both) but they lack the exportability to a printable catalogue that other commercial apps and software have. Having used mymovies for a while, I think that DVD Profiler is probably the best tool available.
If it only had a link to the corresponding title in the blu-ray.com database. ![]() |
