Paramount The Terminal (2004)

The Terminal Blu-ray

Quote:
Academy Award winning director Steven Spielberg teams up with two-time Academy Award winner Tom Hanks and Oscar winner Catherine Zeta-Jones (Chicago) for this critically acclaimed comedy. after arriving at New York's JFK airport, Viktor Navorski (Hanks) gets unwittingly caught in bureaucratic glitches that make it impossible for him to return to his home country or enter the U.S. Now, caught up in the richly complex and amusing world inside the airport, Viktor makes friends, gets a job, finds romance and ultimately discovers America itself.
Someone asked for more Spielberg?

I've got my fingers crossed for a double feature of Catch and Terminal.

Excellent, I love this film!

I admit, it has a few major flaws. It's about 45 mins too long, Catherine Zeta-Jones is wildly miscast as a passive woman who has been staying in a bad relationship, and the
[Show spoiler]reshot ending
is tonally weird.

That said, it has some amazing work from Spielberg at the top of his game - great physical comedy from Tom Hanks, some brilliant wordless sequences as he adjusts to life in the airport, a charming early performance from Zoe Saldana (Spielberg has always had an eye for tomorrow's stars), and stunningly beautiful production design. If it were a 90 min film with the romantic subplot totally removed, I think it'd be a classic.

Munich is Universal as are all the other unreleased Spielberg Blu-rays at this point.

With today's two announcements every other studio has cleared their vaults of Spielberg films.

FINALLY.

Hopefully this has all the special features from the Limited/Collector's/(whatever the hell it was) edition and not the near bare-bones regular DVD.

It should, past Paramount BDs of his films, like Minority Report and War of the Worlds, included everything off the Special Edition DVDs. Although this film had an enormous 3-disc set in a cardboard case on DVD, 1 disc was just the soundtrack album and the bonus disc was just a few featurettes, as I remember. Should fit easily on 1 BD.

As noted above, the remaining Spielberg films not on BD - Duel, Sugarland, 1941, Always and Munich - are all controlled by Universal in the US.

Heck, they still haven't gotten The Pianist, Breach, and The Good Shepherd to us, which is why I still have the HD DVDs.

Cool, Amistad and The Terminal?!

The latter is "lite" Spielberg, but it's warm and humorous and boasts a wonderful John Williams score. I'll be all over these.
