I think they are making a mistake in releasing this movie in July. You won't have any problem getting X-Files fans to go see it - regardless of timing. But doesn't it make more sense to release this in October, around Halloween? If it is supposed to be a good stand alone story, I think you'd get more of Joe Public to go see it if it was released at that time.

Just doesn't feel like a 'summer' movie to me...

I very rarely get excited about seeing a movie at the theater, but I can't wait for this to come out! Please, please Fox put out the first X-Files movie on Blu soon.

Same here. Same spot too, lol. This will be my second time watching. When does the movie come in at? Between what seasons? The first movie of course, not this new one.

I'm not sure what season(s) it was, but I know it was 1998 when the movie premiered.

Maybe Season 7? I think the series started in 91.

It was midway through 6 or start of 7. cant remember that far back, since fox is a lot different today than it was before.

ya i think it was between season 6 and 7, and yes i cant wait for this to come out, even more excited when they release the first movie and this one on blu, im figuring around christmas time and a 2 pack,

The 1998 movie was between seasons 5 and 6 (filmed after season four). This next movie occurs in real time since the end of the show, 2008, 4 years 'till the end of the world

(Dec. 12, 2012, if i remember the finale correctly).

Thanks for clearing that up everyone. I could not remember and my first go around at watching the entire series, I got lost a bit because they "cut" to the movie and then came back. So I was like - "huh" - for a bit. Then I realized the movie was suppose to be there then back to the series.

I did not own the movie at the time but did see it and loved it. I now own it.

Saw 5? Great...our society demands more brutal blood-n-guts torture over a thinking persons movie...Saw 1 was great, but the series got away from what made the story good and went with the torture route as the primary motif. But I digress...this is an X-Files thread...

The trailer looks bad and the plot sounds horrible. "Ex-agents" .. this is laughable. For an X-Files movie to be a success 10 years later it needs to have a massive story with some balls - not about some missing girls and a priest. ugh..

I've been doing that too, I just finished watching Season 4 Episode 10 "Paper Hearts" with Tom Noonan; great episode. Season 4 I find really picks up, especially the Black Cancer episodes and the look into the Smoking Man's past.

Although I could go another 20 years without having to watch 4x02 ever again - "Home"

I will watch the movie between Seasons 5 and 6, where it occurs. I'm looking forward to starting Season 5 - I find the show looked so much better when they moved to widescreen. I have a hard time with the blacks and mpeg-noise on Seasons 1-4.

Season 5 has one of my favourite episodes from all the X-Files, episode 19, "Folie a Deux"
