United Kingdom Superior Australian releases

Apologies first, I couldn't find the original thread that was similar to this.

Anyway, are there any superior Aussie BR releases? Like American Psycho.

The Fifth Element, for one. Saw it last night and it looked phenomenal. The US, UK, etc, releases have apparently not been the remastered versions.

I'm basically looking for the films where the Aus disc is the king out of all countries.

The Descent is meant to be the best blu ray as far as PQ goes. It's got the deepest blacks out of all of the countries, including over here.

I think the Aussie version of The Running Man is the best one?

American Psycho yes but the South African and Spanish ones are the same I think.

Then take a look at the link I put in post #4, there is a lot of releases to work through but you will get a clear and concise answer to your question

Casino Royale (2006)

The Aus Blu-ray contains the unrated cut. The opening fight scene in the bathroom is slightly longer as is the staircase fight later in the film. Both scenes benefit from the slightly longer edit. Also, the audio is LCPM 5.1, which, to my ears, sounds slightly more robust than the Dolby True HD of the collector's edition. It's the first Blu-ray I ever bought!

It got re-released uncut in the UK with DTS-HD MA audio. You can distinguish between the cut and uncut versions by the age rating. The uncut version has a 15 BBFC certificate.

Hahaha! Did you investigate?

I've had the Australian release for years and at the time of its release, it was the best overall (extras/remastering) version available as I recall. I think the US remastered version came out just after it, but had no extras. Then the German release appeared a while later which was pretty similar to the Oz version. Anyway, how time has passed me by...

And yes, the Oz release of The Descent is a little beauty!
