Not many films are. Robocop revelled in it's Over The Top™ violence.

I saw it today, it was absolutely awful! Needless to say I'll be giving the home release a wide berth.

Saw it today in my OCP t-shirt with the 4k remaster disc fresh in my head, and loved it! I was shocked but took an open mind with me and was rewarded

They get away with a TON for a 12a the rumours of humans only getting tased is rubbish he kills a lot of people

Nice one. Ordered Steelbook. Blind buy but I love the original (& no.2) also enjoy a lot of remakes/reboots, sure this will be no different.

The trailer looks absolutely dreadful but I'll watch it anyway out of respect for the original. I mean, just one example: the scene in the original when Murphy 'dies' is really cruel and violent, that scene still sticks in my head since I first saw twenty years, or whatever, ago. In the new one he gets blown up. I'm not sure it's gonna have the same effect.

I saw this film as a little kid when it would pop on tv every now and again, and I must say, I did find almost every death scene disturbing, specially the Murphy death as you mentioned. It's horrific and I think it's made worse by the fact that those lunatics are just giggling and laughing while blowing off his limbs. It cuts deeper too since Peter Weller has a very sympathetic energy to him what with his warm smile and unpretentious good looks. That scene is even more devasting in hi def ):



My biggest problem with the remake is that it looks like a by the numbers action adventure. It's like they don't even want to do anything or turn things on it's head.

If you remake a film, make it your own, don't copy the original. Take Cronenberg's excellent remake of The Fly or Carpenter's sublime version of The Thing. Or how about Herzog's wonderfully revamped Bad Lieutenant? Those are the best examples of how yo remake a film. Reinterpret it and make it your damn own. It's as simple as that.The remake looks to just copy the original without the absurd violence. Wheres the risk? Wheres the creativity?

Maybe watch it before you label it a "by the number action adventure" and compare it to other well done remakes?
