Question Paramount RE-releases

I understand paramount is trying to push their previous titles from their inventory starting May 20th, But would'nt it make more sense for them to remaster those titles on 50Gb disc.., with lossless sound or DTS-MA. Even though I have most of their titles, I would'nt mind double dipping for Shooter, Mission impossible collection, Italian job, WTC...., What do you all think ?

It'd be nice, but that's a pretty significant investment that I doubt they'll be making anytime soon. I'm just happy they have a relatively small number of titles on Blu-ray, many of which I don't have any interest in, that have gimped audio. Luckily they've committed themselves to quality (on paper at least).

While MI and Italian Job certainly need it, mission impossible 4 is being discussed, and Brazillian Job looks like it may actually finally be happening, so any redos will certainly be tied to those

Shooter just needs a lossless track

DTS-MA is lossless sound, but Paramount uses DolbyTrueHD

I think it's a good idea. But i also think the one they re-release is just something they already done it and just keep it, I don't think they will like re-build it again.. OMG my english sucks I don't know what I just said

What is the strategy for the re-releases. Is it to get the PQ and AQ improved. Do they think that they could recover the costs.

Brazilian Job has even been made yet. Perhaps Lionsgate actually invented a time machine?

My bet is that they are just getting their previous catalogue out on the market while they improve titles and work on new releases that need to be reference quality...

I don't want any of those titles, but I do want Paramount to release their Blu media in the best form possible, and the fact they've been cutting corners concerns me.

if they won't reissue them properly I'll get them when they will be for $5, if they don't want to put out I won't bother getting it, simple.

I think they should remaster them, especially Sleepy Hollow. That's one of my favorite Tim Burton/Johnny Depp movies, and the high def transfer blew chunks.

I couldn't agree with you more. The PQ on many of the Paramount are great; it's the sound that sucks. I watched Black Snake Moan after Twister last weekend. The sound was a major let down.
