Default Rewards Zone card/points?

I priced out a new gas range, fridge, and dishwasher from Best-Buy, and was wondering how the "rules" work.... if I buy all of these on a new Rewards-zone card, instead of just paying for them up-front, can I get these "points" and how many dollars/pt. etc..

Basically the stuff I'm looking at is $6k or so out the door, so should I get a rewards zone card, or are they just trying to give me some crap I don't need? How much "store credit" with these points can I get for that??? Are there times (should I wait) until there is some promo to get double/triple points??????? Will this even apply to house-hold appliances?????

That's only $120, not worth me starting a C.C. for.... Do they do double or triple rewards points? I think I remember hearing about it..... I'll probably just shop else-where (try to find some clearance stuff to save cash too.....) I don't want to sign up for a C.C. for $120, just not worth it.

thanks for the info though!

You don't need to sign up for a C.C. You can just go to the website and sign up for a rewards card. It's free. Thats how you'll get the 120.

If you use their reward zone card, you get double points.. so its 10 for every 250.

Get the Rewards Zone card. It's just a free program that gives you a very small percentage back in gift certificates. If you wanted to maximize it you might want to look for triple or double reward zone point coupons on the merchandise you buy. It's definitely worth it when spending that much money.

Do they run credit etc.... can you "Purchase" things on the rewards zone card??? if so, I don't want it... because that just shows up as another CC that is "Open" House is purchased, credit is flawless, but I don't want to start putting "dings" on my credit now.

There is a Rewards Zone credit card, but you can get just a Rewards Zone card that is not a charge card. It is free. Basically all it does is keep track of how much money you spend, cash or otherwise and then gives you a coupon for so much off your next purchase. You do not have to charge anything to get this. You can pay cash for your purchases or use another credit card.

Best Buy is the best price for appliances?????

I always thought they were high compared elsewhere, I'd check out sears, Lowes, and Home Depot first...you might save more than $120 by just shopping around.

It seems silly to me that spending 6k there just to get $120 in points, when you could save $500 buy shopping at a store that doesn't specialize in electronics. We looked at a stove at BB that was $200 cheaper at Home Depot. Not to mention, delivery charges tend to be higher at BB than any of the other stores above for this kind of thing.

I'll shop around!!! I was planning on it, but we didn't get to that point yet (just saw some stuff that looked good, and talked about buying it) I know H.H. Gregg is basically struggling to stay in business, and I've seen things CHEAP there, but don't know what they do/don't carry.

We're looking at those "Electrolux" models... My wife apparently thinks they're the "Bomb digitty"

Yikes!! Yeah, that stuff is very high end. I don't think you'll find those at Home Depot or Lowes, but maybe as a special order. Which surprises me that Best Buy carries it, but I suppose someone has to.

Personally, I can't fathom spending $2,500 on a stove--but that's just me. I don't think my wife would even let me spoil her like that :P

Your local shops will still do better for you I think, especially on equipment at that price point and if you're looking at 6k worth of appliances. Best buy won't work a deal with you for anything other than price matching (maybe), but I guarantee you the little guy will be hungry for the business. After you work the deal, tell them you want to pay with cash and see how much lower they'll drop

She wanted a Viking range (because our friends re-did their whole kitchen with it) and then I had to tell her the harsh reality of it, and she said "wow, I can't believe they spent that much, they're dumb!" and I said... well... it's nice though, but WAY too much money, you'd have to actually learn how to cook (she appreciates my dry wit )

I didn't know BB had Electrolux, but they actually have it in the store we went to.... I've got a lot of comparison shopping to do still of course..... Too bad I can't find stuff "factory refurbished" since it's not high-tech electronics, I'd take a scratch-n-dent for a hefty discount in a heartbeat!!!!

Anyone know of a "liquidator" type of place for things of this nature? (wow... I got WAY off topic, sorry)

If you're looking to get an electrolux that's refurbished or scratch-n-dent, then you'd be better off looking at the GE stuff at home depot or lowes. They have 'dinged' stuff and floor models for sale often, along with last years models that they're wanting to get rid of. The last thing I think you would want in your kitchen would be high end appliances like Electrolux that are banged up.

Besides, GE stuff is really nice, and they make higher end models as well. If your wife doesn't really cook, than an electrolux is a waste for the same reasons a viking is. Better equipment in the kitchen doesn't make a better cook, unless the skill surpasses what the equipment is capable of

Plus, you could probably get the fingerprint proof stainless stuff for half the 6k budget if you go with GE, and by doing so it would save you 3k to put into something else (like furniture, Blu's, new TV, savings, moving expenses, a painter, etc).

Just an idea, and ever since I've been drinking Dave Ramsey's Kool-aide (it's a sweet, sweet nectar) I've become quite cheap and am enamored with paying less for EVERYTHING.

I was being facetious about her abilities to cook... she's really good actually (and I cook more than the average person, so it's for me too!)

I'm not saying "banged up" but with high-end stuff, I usually find the SLIGHTEST blemish makes it hard to sell to the average consumer looking at those things, but who knows... maybe you can't get them anywhere.

Ahh...I getcha. See, I know quite a few people in my age & income bracket who have spent 2k+ on a single piece of equipment, and have used it maybe a handful of times. They're essentially takeout kings & queens or they use it to bake a tombstone pizza or cook pasta on the top. If you can afford it though, what they hey right?

As for minor blemishes, I've done that before and have become irritated by it. Coincidence or not, there always seems to be something else wrong with it that I wasn't aware of or was caused by whatever made the ding.

Other people have had stellar luck with it, so go figure

I'm not aware of leftover shops or anything, but they have to be out there. Maybe a wholesaler or something?

Best Buy has the electrolux (Free-standing Gas) that we're looking at, for the same as Lowes... hmmm I'm gonna shop around, but I'd be doing "store-pick-up" so shipping fees won't hit me.... I'm going to look around for floor models!
