Default What percentage of your blu-ray collection is unopened or unwatched?

I just reorganized my blu-ray collection and was amazed at how many blu-rays I haven't actually watched yet. Several of them are films that I haven't seen. Was wondering if there are others in the same boat or if this is uncommon.

When I realized this I actually organized my films so that the blu-rays I haven't watched are separate from those I have. Hoping to get through a lot of the unwatched films in the coming months, and plan to hold off from buying any new ones until most, if not all, of them have been viewed at least once.

It's not entirely accurate (for example, I'm halfway through the fourth series of Friends but I'm not going to click 'Watched' until I've seen all ten of them), but there's still plenty I need to watch:

Watched: 248 movies, 2 TV seasons, 185 SKUs
Not Watched: 142 movies, 10 TV seasons, 71 SKUs

For ages, I haven't have as much access to my PS3 as I would have liked. I've had my own HDTV in my room the last couple of months, though, so I've slowly-but-surely been catching up, finally watching more Blu-rays than I buy whereas before it was the other way round.

I always like to have a few unwatched titles up on the shelf to look forward to seeing. Right now they probably number around 20 or so titles.

0% unopened. That's not me. No plastic fanboy sculptures lining the bookshelves either.

I'm down to 5-7 films. I was doing really bad at one point (around 60 or so) but I buckled down about 18 months ago and actually started watching them.

Opening them, removing stickers and checking the discs is always the first thing I do. I have maybe 2 I haven't watched. Close Encounters was on sale for $7 which was an impulse buy and I'd recently seen it a couple times. Phantom of the Opera came packed in as a 4 movie set. I wanted the other 3 but have never seen the movie to know if I'd like it or not.

I've got probably about 5 or 6 that haven't been watched. I do open each and every one of them as soon as I get home. I want to make sure they're in good condition. Plus I like looking at the inserts.

I also shake all the cases before buying them. There were a few DVD's that got bought which weren't firmly secured inside and they got scratched to hell because of that.

I take the shrinkwrap off of every Blu-ray as soon as I purchase it and bring it home. I want to make sure that the correct disc is in the case, and I want to make sure that everything is in tip-top condition.

I have a backlog of about 30 unwatched Blu-rays right now. I had a lot of fun with my wallet over Christmas and early January.

I open the packaging on the way home.

I have watched all my Blu-Rays, although not all my DVDs.

If I've seen the movie before, I won't open it until I plan on watching it again, especially if it's a steelbook or something that I might change my mind on and want to get rid of later.

Also, sometimes an unopened movie on my shelf will make for a great last-minute present if I need to give something.

However, one time Amazon sent me a brand new, factory sealed Blu-ray and when I opened it there was no disc inside. Fortunately I opened it soon enough that I could get a replacement.

used to be a big fat 'none'

but I recently had 2 steels unopened for a while - a while being from December - (one of which I watched last week) and the other is still sealed (Kill Bill double movie pack - watched the movies before selling the individual steels and have not felt the need to watch it again yet, so no need to open it)

still feel like a geek having even the one sealed copy

I have 127 that I haven't watched yet but it's only about 27% of my collection. I always open them when I get home, but my wife and I don't have a ton of time off together, we normally watch episodes of whatever show we're currently going through during the week and then a couple movies over the weekend. We normally buy at least 5 every week though so we'll always have unwatched movies.

Less than 5% - all of them are discs in TV series that I am still working my way through.

You have nearly 13,000 movies on Blu-ray and DVD in your collection. I am shocked, shocked, shocked that you'd have any movies left unwatched.
