Ok I know you guys all know everything about movies... I need some help here.
What is this? I just tried to watch Thor The Dark World after downloading it from my Blu Ray copy and Apple is telling me my computer is not compatible and until it is I can't watch it. My computer is brand new! They will do nothing to assist. I have a lot of movies that are HD that play perfectly fine but this one will not I keep getting that error. The guy I spoke with was rude on top of it. :/ I am so frustrated, what is causing this? Has anyone seen this before? Thanks |

HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) is a form of digital copy protection that requires compatibility between a source—such as your computer and video adapter if present—and a receiver, such as a high-definition television. If any of these devices or cabling do not support HDCP, your content may not play, may present a warning message, or may play back at a lower resolution than expected. An example of content that supports HDCP is an HD movie on the iTunes Store. Note: For information about whether your cabling, receiver, or television supports HDCP, refer to the manufacturer of the device.
Also, check with the maker of your computer's video card to see if there's an HDCP-compliant driver for it. |

My computer has an amd radeon hd 8670d with a dvi, vga and hdmi output. If I get a dvi cable will that work or does the monitor also need to be HDCP compliant?
Dual-link DVI with HDCP Max resolution: 2560x1600 Just checked my monitor is also 'HDCP Support Yes' Supports High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) to prevent transmission of non-encrypted high definition content So all I need is the cable? The funny thing is after searching around on google last night and playing around in itunes I found a selection that says Download In HD when available and you can deselect it. It lets you download the SD version as well as the HD version and the SD version of Thor played. So thank goodness that worked. But I still want the HD to play so I am trying to get the system set up. I read I need a DVI or HDMI anyway when I get my external Blu Ray harddrive. |

I'm having this annoying issue right now. Never had used any digital files and found a few that I wanted to try from Vudu so signed up. I can't play any of them on either my desktop (using oldschool VGA connection) or my new laptop. Good thing they were just part of the free starter pack because I'm not buying any until I can actually view them.
