Default Playing ps3 blu ray discs on jvc sx21/dlu projector

Is there anyone out there that can help me please. I was using a home theatre pc with dvi cable into my jvc projector. As I wanted to start veiwing bluray movies I bought a PS3, hooked it up with an hdmi to dvi adapter but I cannot get any picture out of my projector any more.

The rep that sold me the ps3 says it is the dvi cable's fault, but the dvi cable guy (bettercables.com) tells me that there is nothing wrong with my cable!!

Can I ever hope to get 1080p out of my JVC sx21 or is the best I can hope for is 720p or 1080i

Thanks in anticipation from a bluray novice.

looking at the projector specs...it does not accept or display 1080p.

so to answer your question, yes 720p/1080i is you only options. (which still look phenomenal!)

Make sure you do not select 1080p in the PS3 settings. This is probably why you get no image. The cable should be fine.

I can understand the confusion. Projector Central lists in the JVC DLA-SX21U Projector Specifications:

I mostly think he gets no picture because of lack of 1080p...but...

another idea...in the link you gave, it says 1080p/60

well, if the PS3 is set for 1080/24hz, this would also be a problem...

maybe the projector can accept 1080p but not 24Hz? so he would have to set the PS3 1080p/24Hz to OFF.

...overall the maximum screen size is 1600x1200 Pixels, which is definitely not 1080p and is most likely the problem. The PS3 should be set for 720p anyways.
