Default Flying Tigers (John Wayne)

Flying Tigers Blu-ray

Courtesy of Olive Films.

Quote:
They were the terror of the sky, a small daring band of American mercenaries who soared into battle against the Japanese in defense of China's freedom. They were aces, adventurers and heros, America's hottest fighter pilots - The Flying Tigers! Possessing unmatched skill and bravery, Jim Gordon (John Wayne), the Tigers' commander, is the top gun of China's skies. But he faces a battle on the ground when his good friend Woody Jason is suspected of recklessly causing the death of a fellow pilot and is accused of stealing Jim's fiancee. Jim's fight to retain his respect for Woody while maintaining the solidarity of his pilots is an explosive battle of courage and heroism that lights up the sky with action. STREET DATE: May 13th.

I much prefer John Wayne's westerns over his war pictures but this is one of the ones that I really enjoy. A possible purchase I think...

Default Flying Tigers

I have hearing issues and need subtitles. I checked out details on "Flying Tigers" and it said there are no subtitles. A movie of this vintage isn't going to give you modern clarity and 99% of the time the companies that make the Blu-ray editions can't do much about that. But one thing they could easily do would be to add subtitles. With the higher cost of a Blu-ray copy of a movie, you'd think they would do at least this bit of editing. It's not as if I'm asking for them to colorize the movie or do all kinds of picture engineering to increase resolution. The very least they could do is provide subtitles!

Welcome, new member.

There are a number of others here who echo your sentiment. Myself, I need sub-title help sometimes on accents or dialects.

It seems Olive and Kino may have started to add sub's to their deluxe offerings. Here's hoping for more.

In terms of picture quality, you can’t improve much on the Olive release

For those who have Region free blu ray players, the UK Fabulous Films release has subtitles.
