United Kingdom Ender's Game.

Did a search and couldn't find a thread for this. This is a Blind Buy for me and I've heard Mixed things about it.

What did we all think?

Copy/pasting my post from the US thread:

I watched it yesterday, and wasn't really impressed.
[Show spoiler]The movie was good until the revelation which fell rather flat to me.

I saw the twist coming from the moment they hopped on the shuttle, and was hoping that the planet targeted during the simulation was actually the one on which they were doing it.... so Ender's reaction kind of took me by surprise (I though he'd be smarter and more mature than that) and didn't have much of an impact - as his relation with the Colonel wasn't explored enough to deepen the betrayal.

I think the biggest problem, for me, was simply Ender's character. He's basically that amazing special snowflake who's smarter and better than everybody (or so we are told), yet there's no real obstacle, nor pull, nor dynamic to make it work.

I wish he had truly been one step ahead of everybody and been a true "Magnificent Bastard," blindsiding everybody - including me.

the idea behind it is pretty cool but to me it just felt like a kids film as 90% of the actors were damn kids. nothing wrong with that i just prefer watching films with adults

I did a search for it a few days ago too and nothing came up, the search function on here can be a bit iffy.

I posted this in the slip thread too

They should have done this in 3D though.

I'm surprised it wasn't - i thought it was a pretty average film but there were some scenes that naturally lent themselves to the 3D format.

If you watch the film you won't - none of the profits of the film go to him.

That's just the studio trying to save face.

OSC has a (vocal) cameo in the movie, and he's credited as a producer - so he definitely benefits from the movie during and after its theatre run.

If you boycott movies written by racist, elitist, sexist, or perverted a-holes, what is there left to watch?

i watched a bit but wasn't interested. It did feel a bit too like a kid's movie for me. I might have loved it if I was fifteen or younger. Has that Last Starfighter vibe.
