Anything with Ed Norton is usually welcome but as I mentioned in another thread.....I just don't 'get' Wes Anderson's film's.

Watched it yesterday. Excellent movie! One of Anderson's best!

That's always subject from fan to fan I find, but it certainly looks like it could be his funniest to date. Has the easygoing feel Bottle Rocket had with the meticulousness of his later catalogue. My favourites are The Life Aquatic and Rushmore - if it's even nearly as good as those I'll be impressed! Looking forward to it.

Royal Tenenbaums was the first of his that I watched. I didn't get it at first, but it just kept getting better after repeat viewings. Once I was able to appreciate that film, the rest were easy.

I think it was either that or Rushmore which got my attention first, then I quickly bought Bottle Rocket and The Life Aquatic (and The Squid and the Whale, which he produced...introducing me to Baumbach's direction) and saw The Darjeeling Limited in the cinema. Been a fan from then on really! Even did my sixth-form auteur project on Wes Anderson...safe to say he's blown up since Fantastic Mr Fox and Moonrise Kingdom (weirdly...I actually think the latter is his weakest film - still good, but comparatively his worst).

I definitely see him as a 'Marmite' director...along with other distinctive auteurs like Tarantino, the Coen brothers or maybe even ones I don't like such as Tim Burton or Baz Luhrmann. Hence the 'Marmite' title

I tried recently with Moonrise Kingdom,it has good reviews but again,it's just not for me.
The trailer for this actually doesn't look too bad but it will be a rental for me away on down the line.

Saw the film this morning and loved it. It's certainly Anderson's darkest film, but it's possibly his funniest too. Here's hoping Criterion get this from the off, which I suspect they will given how he financed the film this time around.

I would dare to say, his most profound as well. The ending is touching and reveals a great deal of issues, worth of further discussion.

Definitely. It felt like a definite progression for Anderson actually, in the sense that it's both of the personal and the wider world. It reminds me of The Rules Of The Game in this sense. The last act has had a really strong effect on me actually, it's Anderson at his most devastatingly sad.

No but there's still 2 months to go. However, if the previous Fox release of Mr. Fox is any indication it should duplicate the US release

It's one of the rare new films that I really liked, & I think it has lots of rewatchability. In fact it's all I can do to wait 'till it's £10 or under...but I will

Looks like i will be ordering the US edition as i don't like the UK artwork at all. Also if the artwork shown on DvdActive is accurate it's tainted by the watch it anywhere logo.
