Thumbs up Rob Zombie - Halloween!

i tend to not be impressed when things are, redone, but this movie was great. i mean, seeing what Michael's life was like as a kid, is genius. i really don't like a lot of the horror movies that come out these days, either. this was a damn good movie. will it go Blu?

There are no reports yet but we all know for sure that it will be on blu-ray someday. I did enjoy Rob Zombie's version of Halloween better than the original by John Carpenter because it went into more detail (Like you mentioned) and more violence to get the audience' attention.

Weinstein is supposed to go Blu in the second half of this year. I wouldn't be surprised to see this released in October.

I remember seeing a preview for future blu-ray releases a while back (before it was even released on DVD) and it showed clips of Rob Zombies Halloween. I figured it would have been released at the same time with the DVD version. I went to the store hoping to buy it on Blu, but it wasn't available...someday, i'm sure.

This movie sucked. If you are into gore check out the Guinea Pig movies. They have more substance and better acting.

Thats too funny... I doubt many on here will know what you are talking about, but Halloween is'nt even in the same class as the Guinea Pig series...
Now the acting in those was believable but really how much acting is involved in being killed on film?

I enjoyed the Halloween remake just as I enjoyed House of 1000 Corpses and The Devils Rejects..... hope it comes to blu soon.... glad I held off on the dvd...

yeah I'm a little harsh on Rob Zombie. I just expected more.

I think I bought one of the Guinea Pig films on Amazon. And I think I rented a few via Netflix. Just a warning though, they are really only good for "shock value". Rent 'em if you can.

*gasp* Blasphemy!!

Seriously, I have to agree with you. JC's version was a great movie, but I believe that Zombie added a little bit more *umpf* in the violence and a far better developed back story than the original.

I hope that when they do release this, it will have the option for BOTH versions. I did not care for the unrated version as far as Michael's escape from the sanitarium is concered. I liked the theatrical version far better.

I thought this movie would be terrible but I have no complaints, I find it to be pretty good. I like the fact that they showed him as a kid, and I loved how he killed his step father, that guy treated him like crap..lol

what was so great about Mikey was that he was a average kid from a middle/upper class neighbourhood that one day snapped what was scary we never knew why

Sorry Zombie but having a fat little annoying red neck get bullied then turn into a serial killer might make a good slasher film but not a good halloween. yeah and i also love how he's sitting in room barely moving for what 10 something years but now he's nearly 7 foot tall and has some how being hitting the gym?

and a rape scene for no reason, boring characters in the last half of the movie and making it so dark i can't tell whats going bravo rob bravo.

There is already a thread on this.

Anyway, I watched this film not really expecting anything, and it started off a really visceral and powerful film, but as soon as Michael escaped from prison after his sister, it just turned into a routine slasher film (not that I have anything against them, I love slasher movies). To go from being so depressing yet powerful, to a slasher movie means it isn't really a good movie. Plus, the running time is just a bit too long.

However, Malcolm McDowell was great. The best performance of his since A Clockwork Orange. His mere prescence redeems quite a large part of the film.
