Rocky 4 is my least favorite.
Probably because its so short and feels so minor

While I can see why it's enjoyable to some fans, Rocky IV is cheese-whiz. It's a cartoon and a long, long drop in quality from the original film (or from Rocky Balboa for that matter.)

The only one I've seen in its entirety is Rocky IV.

Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned.

Here's my take on the entire series:

ROCKY -

Best Picture Oscar Winner 1976. - Its the classic underdog story everyone can relate to and perhaps inspire to + he gets the girl at the end.....

ROCKY II -

IMO, equal to the first one in some of the more melodramatic moments. The rematch idea works well as the million to one shot makes good this time around.

ROCKY III -

1980's nostalgia at its finest. Mr. T, Hulk Hogan, the Muppets and of course The Eye of The Tiger!

ROCKY IV -

The 90 min music video. Some of the series best training scenes as well.

ROCKY V -

The bastard child of the series. Although I do give props for Stallone trying to bring back the grittier feel of the original and some of its soul, the heart just couldn't beat strong enough to make it stick. Five really isn't all that bad and is now harder to watch knowing we lost Tommy Morrison and Sage Stallone so young.

ROCKY BALBOA -

Stallone did a fantastic job and closing out the story arc and the series with this last entry. And even if you don't watch parts II-V, BALBOA works as a direct sequel to the original.

You can break the Rocky movies into three categories:

1. The serious films vying for Oscar consideration-
Rocky
Rocky II
Rocky Balboa
2. The fun popcorn flicks-
Rocky III
Rocky IV
3. Rocky V

Among those in the first category, I like the 6th one best. The first Rocky suffers from serious "Outdated"ness. In the second category, it's a toss-up, but if I had to choose one, I'd pick the 4th one by a hair. Rocky V is an abomination in just about every facet of moviemaking. Just my humble opinion.

I like the third the best. Fourth was pretty much all montages (which are awesome) and very little story.

Rocky IV
Rocky
Rocky Balboa
Rocky II
Rocky III

Thats how I would rank them.In terms of actual acting quality they would be a bit different i.e it would go Rocky,Rocky Balboa,Rocky II,Rocky III,Rocky IV and then Rocky V.

Rocky IV is definitely one of the best bad movies ever made.

I don't know how it could be argued that it's not the best in the series. Ivan Drago is one of the greatest cinematic villains of the 80's
