Anybody picking this up? Came out on Friday in Europe, out today/tommorow in the US and Canada I believe.

The game's been getting some stellar reviews.

I am! GameStop called me early last night to tell me my copy will be available by 1PM EST tomorrow (pre-paid).

I get a Gaming Goodness double whammy, with both Folklore and Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions arriving for me in the afternoon.

Target has it! I will be picking it up after work.

Indeed, reviews have been amazing. Clearly this is a must have for anyone who likes the series. Good strategy/tactics RPG's are far too few, so I'd probably be getting this even if the reviews were mediocre.

I never played the original, only Final Fantasy Tactics: Advance. Based on reviews of War of the Lions, and my recollections of FFT:A, it seems as though the two versions of the game have very different stories.

The stories are completely different. I found War of the Lions had a much more intriguing "mature" story, rather than the FFT:A's childish "Never Ending Story" plot.

I agree, I hated the storyline for FFT:A so much I never finished the game (was at the end too...I should go back before A2 is out.) FFT had the best story, next to Xenogears, at the time of its original launch as it handled a strong religious conspiracy versus the usual "save the girl/world/best friend" scenarios of the RPGs at the time.

I picked up Lions War day it was out and forgot how addictive the damn game is. I already put in 14 hrs and I just got into Chapter 2. (I've been spamming Accumalate (now Focus) in random battles to earn tons of JP hehe.)

Anyone notice the change in the script/dialogues versus the original? Makes it kinda hard to read with all the weird Ye ol'English style.

I agree with you both a 100%. The sad thing is that the new Tactics for DS is the exact same story premise, young children in Junior High(could be younger) find a book about Ivalice and get sucked into the book.....yawn...

When I read up on FFT:A2 I remembered FFT:A and then further remembered FFT and sighed...

I really don't even want to bother with FFT:A, as you progress the story doesn't get more enthralling - the characters just get more whinier.

Default FFT:WotL > FFT:A

I agree with the above posters. I am on chapter 2 of WotL. It is vastly superior to FFT:A and highly addictive. Does anyone know what the ideal party size is? It seems as though the fewer people you have in your party, the faster they will advance, but maybe I'm missing something. Also, does anyone play this "Iron Man?" (IE, if a non-critical character dies, do you let the character die, as opposed to re-starting.) I play a lot of games Iron Man style, but I feel like, with this one, that might be too much.
