Whats up with the Wings and Pistons tv times

I hate to complain having 2 great teams to watch but WTF?
Cant the NBA & NHL get together and work out a schedual so these 2 series don't run concurrently? I know we're only one small part of a large market but unfortunately ESPN will be missing my advertisement $ because although I am a big fan of all Detroit sports teams, I've always been a diehard Wings fan.
I really can't think of a great reason why they can't stagger these series dates if not at least start times............WTF man.

True Bettman is a TOTAL D**chbag. But it's the Stanley Cup finals. I would think that at least they would discuss how to squeeze the most $ out of the fan base in both the NHL & NBA. People in this market will choose sides. They might DVR it like me but I will FFward through the comercials. Wont watch one. Lost $$$$$

That is the issue. So why wouldnt nbc and espn get together and come to the conclusion that they are stealing each others market share (at least in Detroit)and they really dont have to.

Because espn knows that the basketball playoffs will dominate the tv ratings vs. a hockey game. Especially with markets like Boston and L.A. which are powerhouses for ratings.

This is going to hurt the NHL more than anything. With hockey dieing out so quickly you would figure you'd want the greatest franchise in hockey (red wings) to be able to reach out to as many people in the US. I was starting to watch a little bit of hockey but now the pistons will take up my time slot and i doubt i'll flip the channel to even see what the score is. The ESPN bottom line will tell me that eventually

OK again why risk even loosing 1% of that audience. Get together and stager the playoffs so we can watch them both. Why is that so hard????? I never understood why television companies would want to put their shows up at competing times when they don't have to. I'm not saying one or the other give up their "prime time slot" just go every other day if you have the same city competing in 2 diff. sports, If you can.

Lots of great thoughts...... but it looks like most people are missing the big picture.... it's not NBC, or the NHL.... it's

CBC......

It's a Canadian Broadcasting company, and those were prime-times for Hockey in Canada, which gets major ratings.....

I have dual tuner HD DVR, can record two HD programs at the same time while watching already recorded program from hard drive.

As I have for every game this series so far, I will be watching th eWings live and recording the Pistons on my HD DVR and skipping through all the commercials.

At least us Detroit fans get a break when the Pistons game 6 is Friday and the Wings game 4 is Saturday.

Which, if true, goes against everything Bettman (A$$-munch) says hes trying to do to market his product in the USA. According to him, that is the "big picture."
