Default Call of Duty: Sledgehammer style...

Activision recently announced that the Call of Duty franchise will be going to a 3 year , 3 studio cycle between Infinity Ward, TreyArch and Sledgehammer games allowing the studios more time to polish and fine tune their brand of the franchise. With Sledgehammer creating the 2014 installment and it being something totally new, Do you think they should take it back to its roots, as in real wars or continue with the futuristic -scifi style IW and TreyArch have created with Ghosts and Black Ops ? Whats your thoughts and predictions on the new brand of Call of Duty coming in November?

MW3 has nothing but a port of MW2 just not as good. Black ops 2 was better but I didn't care for it and would rather play anyothwr call of duty. Didnt even buy Ghost because I was waiting to get my hands on the incomplete game that is titanfall. But back on topic Black Ops 1 was the last "real" cod for me atleast. But to the question asked I would love to see another WWII shooter. Some thing like a WaW 2. I guess that a little biased because my favorite call of duty was WaW. Anyways bring back world war 2

I think that rather than make it a 3-studio rotation and keep churning out the same old crap, they need to give CoD a break for a while until they come up with something worthwhile. There's a lot that they could learn from Titanfall as far as verticality and movement go, and I would love to see them take some risks instead of just iterating on the same multiplayer system. Go truly open world with the campaign... with co-op... or do battles on a massive scale. Do SOMETHING new.

That said, I'm interested to see what they do with a next-gen-only CoD title in the future. Ghosts was a half-hearted port during a console transition, so they need to focus on next gen as the lead platform next time and show us what they can do. And for the love of all that's holy, they need to stop using that old modified Quake engine and step up to something like Unreal or CryEngine!

Open-world FPS would interest me a lot more, actually. I've gotten pretty sick and tired of these military shooter games, and will want something more than just the same old thing over and over again.

I would love a Black Ops 3, since Black Ops and Black Ops 2 IMO were better than the Modern Warfares, except the first Modern Warfare that is.

+1. They had the most coherent stories in the campaigns and at least TRIED to do things differently in multiplayer. I would play a next-gen Black Ops 3 if they did something interesting with it.

NOoo the problem is "worthwhile" instead of correcting issues making a perfect title with maybe new challenges, weapons and maps... They waste their time trying to add "brand spanking new" "never before done" crap which ultimately creates new problems...

When they stop trying to add things for the sake of being new and correct known issues [spawn, hit detection, lag, glitches] then I'll fork over tons of money again.

I agree. SOMETHING NEW needs to happen...I think a open world war style single player or Co-Op game would have the potiental to be amazing but also would be risky. I can see it as a soldier(s) having their start point then be emmersed in battles along the way to the end. Story driven, but also the ability to choose the missions you want as you go . MP system reworked with a massive scale like the ground battle mode or whatever it was called in MW2 or 3 , cant remember, would be cool but it has been done with Battlefield so it wouldn't be 'new' per say. With next gen I imagine they'll raise 6v6 to 12v12 or so eventually ,if not with 2014s installment.
Sledgehammer has said theyre version of the game is next gen first, so I take that as ,they will use every available tool out right now to make something totally different than IW and Treyarch's brand of COD. At least we can all hope so. The thing I truly would like to see for the ' new' COD franchise is getting away from the 'future/scifi' style games since theres 2 versions like that now....What made me like COD in the first place was the 'real wars' play it had...The problem involved with it is that fans are used to the 'future/scifi' versions now and creating a past war game between the revolutionary war and now with the title Call of Duty would be a risk all in its own.....

There needs to be some structure to it... They keep trying "new" for all the people clamoring for different things and all that does is create new problems and compound old ones... COD4 needed minor changes to nades a few guns on minor hit detection tweaks with expansions of challenges and killstreaks... Then MW2 came out and added new problems with overpowered perks, kill streak glitches, one man army abuse (I did it lol it worked), etc. problems have been continued to be compounded and made worse and worse with each game since those two.

Build a good game and make minor changes that don't inhibit quality. I personally would rather play COD4/mw2 again if the user base was there than play any of the new crap they've done since..

There are 3 studios, so there is no reason they can't do a Past, Present, Future title.

I got into Call of Duty and Medal of Honor in the PC days. Love how they captured the "ping" of a Garand clip ejecting.

I'd love COD Civil War or Revolutionary War shooter. Would be a lot more difficult because the rates of fire was comparatively low, and 'run and gun' would be nearly impossible in the latter.

Even still, the shake up in tactics would be a lot of fun and you'd only have to wait a year if you hated the game set in the past.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the futuristic ones myself.
