Australia Any interest in a Group Buy from Sweden?

Since there was some interest in deepsbreathndeath's Italian group buy thread, thought I would see if any other aussies would want to participate in a similar group buy but for Swedish imports.

Basically rules would be similar (ie shipping split across number of discs bought, no order placed until all payments made, I post out the discs when I get them and keep everyone updated on progress).

However, instead of using Amazon (because there is no swedish amazon), the website used will be http://www.recordshopx.com

I have ordered from there before, once they ship, items turn up between 5-7 working days. The site is english friendly if you want to search for any particular titles. Shipping is 2.95 euros per order + 1 euro per disc.

Like deepsbreathndeath, I will charge an extra amount to post discs to you once I receive them. How much that is depends on the number of discs and where you live. Details can be sorted out over PMs.

I regularly sell blu-rays on eBay and have accumulated 439 feedbacks, all but one of which is positive (and that 1 negative was a dodgy buyer) so I can assure anyone on the fence that I'm trustworthy. You can check my ebay username nitingulati.

Titles worth considering are:

Red Riding Trilogy - US release has the 3 movies on one disc, swedish discs have one disc per movie.

The Italian Job (2003) - AVC encoded high bitrate release with lossless audio

Mission Impossible Trilogy - AVC encoded high bitrate release with lossless audio

Bullets Over Broadway (1994)

Mighty Aphrodite (1995)

Small Time Crooks (2000)

Curse of the Jade Scorpion (2001)

Everyone Says I Love You (1996)

Cassandra's Dream

I have sent an email inquiring about 187 and Coming to America on blu ray since they are not coming up when I search for them on recordshop's site.

Thanks for this. According to the database Coming to America is available across Scandinavia, but 187 appears to be Denmark only. However from what I have gathered releases from other parts of Scandinavia can be ordered through some retailers.

I was under the impression that The Last Samurai with lossless audio was available in Poland, not Scandinavia?

I'd like The Mission Impossible Trilogy, but 70 Euros is just too darn much I'm afraid.

Check out dvdoo.dk. It's where I got my trilogy set from a while ago. Was under $50 shipped.

I ordered them individually just over a year ago, for them and The Whole Ten Yards shipped it was $55 from Dvdoo.dk.

hi,

yes this is the version to get : http://www.recordshopx.com/movie/mis..._box/#3blu-ray

You were looking at this one which apart from the xorbitant price is the old lossy audio and mpeg2 encoded release : http://www.recordshopx.com/movie/mis...ction/#blu-ray

The only caveat with the top version is that MI3 does not come with the second disc of extras.

idlebrain,

thanks, I will be in touch in the next few days.

cevolution,

no problems, I was inquiring about The Gift anyway so added your titles to the email.

I will wait another day or two to see if there is more interest and then get in touch with those that said they wanted to participate.

Am interested in MI2 & MI3, but am concerned if there are some non english speaking parts, can anyone confirm. I doubt a Swedish blu would have a subtitle setting for English subs for non english speaking parts only.

Not sure if you've done the math on this group buy, but doesn't appear to be a good idea.
Postage is 2.95 euro for 1st disc, thereafter 1 euro. So a group buy would only see a maximum saving of less than 1.95 euro (approx $3) per order. If someone bought one disc they might save less than $1 assuming OP charged $2 post. Once you order 2 discs, or a boxset you would be losing money, compared to buying direct.

Now if the purpose of the group order is to save people the hassle of ordering or people don't have PayPal a/cs that's different, but if people are looking to save money it doesn't appear to add up.

Appreciate the OPs effort, so please don't take offence.

First of all, no offence taken

Second of all, you are absolutely right that unlike deepsbreathndeath's Italy group buy, there isnt much saving going on regarding postage. And it might even be true that some people are better off ordering larger orders by themselves direct (that's something they need to work out).

The reason I started this thread is because I got the impression (perhaps wrongly) from deepsbreathndeath's thread that quite a few people dont import from countries apart from the regulars (US and UK), but are more inlcined to do so in a group situation. So I thought I would provide the opportunity since I was going to order from Sweden.

Having said that, I think it might still work to some people's advantage (particularly those in Melbourne to whom I am happy to offer pickup from either the CBD or Blackburn).

Like I said I will contact some of those who have showed interest in the next day or two, if people have changed their mind, that's absolutely fine.
