Default New Green Lantern Movie Coming From David Goyer

Well, it looks like David Goyer might be tackling Green Lantern if he gets his way. The Batman vs Superman Scribe hinted at doing a take on Green Lantern similar to Man of Steel.

Quote:
While talking about the Krypton-set scenes in Man of Steel, Goyer noted the alien-ness of it all, and said he definitely wants to tackle a Green Lantern film in the same vein. Sure, David Goyer is pretty busy writing Batman vs. Superman at the moment, but that doesn’t mean he’s not thinking about which DC characters could be coming down the pipeline.

The writer, who also penned Man of Steel, had a wide-ranging chat with Collider about everything from DC to his historical fantasy series Da Vinci’s Demons, and teased which DC character he would “love” to tackle soon. While talking about the Krypton-set scenes in Man of Steel, Goyer noted the alien-ness of it all, and said he definitely wants to tackle a Green Lantern film in the same vein. Of course, we already got a Green Lantern film in 2011 starring Ryan Reynolds, which was sadly a muddled mess. Plus, it’s hard to argue that the look of those early Man of Steel scenes wouldn’t fit an intergalactic Lantern adventure.
Here’s an excerpt from Goyer’s comments:

Quote:
I would love to do Green Lantern, I really wanted to showcase Krypton as a truly alien world, that was one of the things I wanted to do from the beginning when I got involved in the project. Superman has always been a science fiction story, and we really wanted to lean into that.

How is it that you read and highlighted that quote, and still made that thread title?

Wants to do it != Is going to do it

What a misleading title and a failure of a thread! Are we now creating threads based on wishful thinkings?

Lame.

Just like Mark Millar has had his take on Superman he's been wanting to do for years, or Tom Arnold wants to do True Lies 2.

Lol Mark Millar's Superman would be punching bank robbers' faces flat, and tearing street muggers in half.

Agreed. He WANTS to do it doesn't equate to "David Goyer doing NEW Green Lantern Movie"...

Ugh, Goyer. That would be way too far on the other spectrum from the last movie.

Slashfilm is now reporting on this development:

Even WB’s president Kevin Tsujihara has been making headway at developing more content from D.C. Comics, "As for DC Entertainment, cross-studio collaboration to make better use of its comic book characters appears to have accelerated considerably since Mr. Tsujihara took over, in part because he eliminated some management layers. (He has not named a chief operating officer and did not replace Mr. Rosenblum and Mr. Robinov, choosing instead to divide up their duties and assume some himself.) Two new television shows are coming to the CW and Fox, including one based on the Flash and another on a young Batman, and a film series will be announced in the near future, Mr. Tsujihara said. It is expected to include a “Justice League” movie."

If anyone can pull off a successful Green Lantern film, David Goyer is the person who can do it.

Regardless of everything, I think it's safe that sometime soon, the GREEN LANTERN will be back again and soon. It's one of DC"s biggest heroes and with the success of every comic book film, it would be stupid not to try again.
