My T.V. 37" 720p got it for FREE..... My Audio equipment breaks the $15K mark, including bass traps etc that were made by myself. I haven't felt the need to get a new t.v. yet, because it looks fine, I don't sit terribly far away, so It's big enough, it looks great being 720p or not.... and when you have a good source of audio, it really DRAWS YOU IN to the screen. I'm planning on getting a projector, but that's only because I'm done (for now) with the audio. It's like spinning-chrome rims on a Dodge Neon...... |

I got it. I'll keep that pm you sent me. Thanks. So I can buy 7 of those speakers and set it up with a 7.1 reciever? I'm starting to get it but not entirely. On the bright side, I'm not buying a HT yet, just doing my homework so when I do buy one, I'll be fully prepaired.
Prerich, the second link looks good price wise (since you said they are 7.1 speakers) What would I do about the subwoofer? Looks like I'll go with the for speakers and http://www.amazon.com/ONKYO-TX-SR606-Channel-Theater-Receiver/dp/B0015S8POY/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=12113211 76&sr=8-2 for the reciever. Now I'm missing a subwoofer. Any advice? Last edited by Wingman1977; 05-20-2008 at 10:11 PM. |

There has been alot of discussion about the Onkyo TX-SR605. What do you know about the Onkyo TX-SR505. IE do you have any experience with it?

Hey Wingman,
I have the identical problem! (as well as the identical TV). 1st off, can't say I agree 100% with the poster who said it's silly to blow much of your wad on video --> I freaking love my TV and wouldn't trade it for the world. I would say: DON'T GET THE s5100!. I was duped by the pass-through business and realized only after installing the whole thing that it wouldn't give me audio via HDMI. The receiver won't actually accept HDMI audio, only video (which you don't exactly need as you already have 3 HDMI inputs on the back of your TV). So, you're left with 2 options: 1) Run HDMI from PS3 to TV; then, optical output on TV to optical input on receiver or 2) Run HDMI from PS3 to TV and optical output from PS3 to optical input on receiver. Optical output via PS3 does NOT allow 5.1/7.1 channel PCM (and thus true high definition surround sound). So what you'll find is that Bluray movies actually sound better when hooked up with the 1st option. The problem: it's only 2 channel (stereo)! But high def audio is so stunning that it actually sounds better stereo than in previous generation Dolby digital run through the optical out on PS3. Not to mention the speakers weren't all that hot for music. You need a receiver that accepts HDMI audio and video. I'm currently looking (after lots of reading!) at the following: 1) Yamaha RX V7663 receiver 2) Polk Audio RM 6750 (5.1 package) The nice thing is that you can upgrade in the future to the Polk Audio R50 towers or CS2 center channel speakers for better dialogue fidelity and music capability later. |

I also agree because sound is subjective.. There are a lot of people who don't like klipsch because of the type of sound they produce which may include you. Go listen to a bunch of different systems and see what kind of speakers produces the sound you prefer.. More bass, more highs, good midrange.. whatever your fancy is..
