Default Curious about digital copies...

Are there dvds or blu-rays out there that come with an ultraviolet or itunes code, even if its not mentioned on the outer packaging? I'm noticing people post codes for sale for older movies and stuff, which I assume were re-release, but haven't seen any of these mention a digital copy coming inside the case when I see them online or in-store.

They are probably re-releases. Sometimes the codes are (Vudu) codes from Walmart and aren't UV or iTunes as well. Just type in the name of the movie in the search box up above and click on the most recent release for that movie and it will usually show that it now comes with a digital copy. If it's a Vudu code, then it will not show there -- it would instead be a sticker affixed to the outside of the packaging that you'd stumble across at Walmart.

Gotcha... thanks for the response. I'm from Canada, despite what it might say on my profile, and we seem to get very little in the way of UV and digital copy. From the sounds of it, US has ALOT more. Heck, we barely even have disc to digital. CinemaNow offers it in Canada, but very limited titles.

Yea, we have a lot of movies that come with digital copies nowadays. It sucks that you don't have Vudu there, hopefully soon.

Yeah, there have been a few times recently in which I've bought a movie from Target or Bestbuy with no digital copy only to find the same movie at Walmart with a UV or Vudu sticker on it. Walmart has made it very challenging to keep track of what digital copy codes are out there since they put codes on releases that don't normally come with them.

Probably Walmart. I noticed that a good portion of their bargain DVDs and Blu ray will have Vudu codes or promo codes for their disc upload service. Usually says so on the packaging though, I don't think I've gotten a UV code that wasn't advertised on the box.

But it can be hit and miss, even with the same titles. Sometimes some copies of the same movie will have the sticker (and code) when others won't. Seems to really depend on if they are on the shelf or in the bargain bins. Just my observation, I could be wrong on that last point.

Also, I've noticed that a lot of Warner titles only mention Ultraviolet on their slipcover. So, if the slipcover is missing...

Walmart forces the studios to include either VUDU or UltraViolet copies if they want a BD carried in the $7.88 Blu-ray bins. You can thank Walmart for them. These are de facto exclusives, since they include digital copies not found at other retailers.

If you make a vudu account and link you're UV account you can redeem US UV codes there and they'll show up in your cinemanow account as well.
