Default "Enemy of Man" Kickstarter - Macbeth starring Sean Bean, Charles Dance, Rupert Grint

Hello, I thought film fans might be interested in the Kickstarter for "Enemy of Man", an independent adaptation of William Shakespeare's Macbeth set to star Sean Bean as Macbeth, Charles Dance as Duncan, Jason Flemyng as Macduff, James D'arcy as Banquo, and Rupert Grint as Ross.

Actor Vincent Regan (300, Troy, and Cinemax's Strike Back) has adapted the play for the screen and will direct. He's turned to Kickstarter to raise $250,000 to fund pre-production and show financiers there is audience interest in this film. There's less than 48 hours left and unfortunately, they're short of their mark as the project hasn't received the media attention that other Kickstarter projects have.

Regan and the cast have assembled a trailer (above) and a proof of concept film to help sell the movie and I think it looks pretty cool so far.

I'm a big fan of Shakespeare and Sean Bean and remember first hearing of this project back in 2007 when it was titled "Come Like Shadows". I've been Googling on and off for the past few years and stumbled on this Kickstarter, so I know I desperately want this to happen.

They're not asking for much compared to the millions that celebrities have asked to fund their movies or parties. If you like Shakespeare, any of the actors, or sword and sorcery type movies, this is a project that's long been in development and could really use some help.

More details at the Kickstarter page: Enemy of Man

A film starting Ruper Grint, Charles Dance and Sean Bean is using an effing kickstarter? WHY? Why don't they find their own damn movie. It's not like they don't have the money.

So far the cast is just attached to the movie and didn't get paid for the day they got together to shoot the trailer. They did it for free either because they're friends with the director or they believe in the project and would like to see it made. Just to show you how hard it is to get funding for something like this, Sean Bean has been attached to this project since 2005 and the director has been trying to get this made since 2000! The point of this Kickstarter is really to get the ball rolling towards production and raise awareness to get the film fully funded. They're not gonna get the movie made on $250,000 alone.

It came down to the wire, but the Kickstarter has been funded. If everything goes well, we'll finally have a Sean Bean leading a Shakespeare film!
