Default HOW TO: Make a High-Def DVD with Toast 9

http://mymoments.roxio.com/enu/artic...n_rid=85670403

Check it out.
There is a plug in you can download with Toast 9 that lets you make a DVD (not BD) that will run on a BD player, including the PS3, that has HD content.
In other words, a BD5 and a BD9!

Here is a tutorial on how to do it.

This is pretty interesting - particularly for the home movie crowd. Fairly time limited - but hey, HD on DVD....cheap media anyway.

These special high-definition DVDs can be played in most Blu-ray set-top players, including the Sony PlayStation 3, and you can fit about 20 to 30 minutes of HD video onto a 4.7GB disc (or almost an hour onto a dual-layer DVD). Even better, Toast lets you crop and trim your HD video, so you can edit out segments you don't want.
1 hrs onto 4 DVDs, no thanks.

Cpt your my Mac boy an all so you know im not knocking this but DO NOT BUY TOAST YET!!!!! I have it and there's some nasty bugs. Blu MPEG2 encoding can work sometimes but not all, AVC i have never got to work (its not just my computer, check out the forums). Its so dissapointing.

Toast 9 is a great program but right now you should wait for the next update and see if that helps with the HD side of things. Once thats fixed (its the HD plugin which is to fault not the program itself) it will be freakin awesome.

Cool

Apple programs don't have bugs....pshhh. Theyre inheritly flawless, and then users break them.

Haven't you seen the commercials?

- At the same time, I wonder if it's just as easy (and faster/cheaper) to plop that media onto a NAS and stream it to the HTPC....or just dump it on the drive in the HTPC/PS3/XBlox .

I think you mean viruses, Macs don't have viruses.

And yeah it is easier to just stream it to the PS3, thats what i do anyhow.

Pretty sure it is but Roxio (the makers) make lots of programs for windows so you might be able to find a windows alternative, DVDitproHD comes to mind.

Talking

Though Toast is 'the toast' of Mac Burning - the Nero product has long been superior on the Windoze....IMO anyway. They normally have features like this in their deluxe editions.

Very good point mate, Nero is an awesome program. (Getting a bit confusing for me with the latest versions though!)
