Default Scarface (1932)

As my name suggests, I prefer the original 1932 version over the 1983 remake. There have been multiple Blu-ray release of the remake, but the original is still only on DVD. It would be nice if the studio put the original Scarface on Blu-ray. Does anyone agree?

first day purchase for me if it happens. The 1983 remake does nothing for me.

How is this possible this is not out yet?

Not like modern reappraisals have panned this movie or something: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/1018323_scarface

Plus I saw this on HDTV a few years and the print looked decent.

God knows! It's really strange that this hasn't had a BD release yet.

Although I do enjoy the De Palma remake I share the enthusiasm displayed here for the '32 original. Universal's DVD was bare-bones and I wouldn't expect supplements if they released it on blu; Would love to see them license it out to Criterion.

A gangster classic such as this deserves no less than a stellar special edition.

Like I said there's already an HD master out there which didn't look too bad from what I could remember. All they have to do is print it on a disk and throw out a bare bones release which would be better than nothing. But you're right in that does deserve classic treatment

It’s nuts that this all-time classic gangster flick hasn’t gotten a blu ray release. Same for The Roaring Twenties & G-Men

This is LONG overdue. Where's Criterion when you need them?
