Follow That Dream Blu-ray

Twilight time has announced the coming release of my favorite Elvis movie : "FOLLOW THAT DREAM (1962) BLU-RAY - Aug 12th". It won't be cheap, but I'm in!

The MGM DVD from a few years ago was somewhat drab, so I'm hoping this is from a new transfer.

I've never guaranteed anything in my life...until now. I'm GUARANTEEING a new transfer. The crappy old DVD wasn't even anamorphic. There's no way anybody could produce a Blu-ray from whatever scrapings that MGM used for that disc.

A company like Twilight Time is not going to sell a Blu-ray using that transfer.

According to Screen Archives, the pre-order availability of Follow That Dream has been pushed back a week and will be available beginning Wednesday, July 23rd. They say the release date has not been moved back, only the pre-order date due to a delay at the pressing plant.

Odd. The preorder date for this and all of the other August titles has been July 23 since Twilight Time put the covers on their Facebook page weeks ago. It has never been anything else. Not sure why Screen Archives would even say this.

The majority of EP's films I can take or (mostly) leave, but FTD is an absolute charmer that I never tire of watching. It's full of great character actors who do a lot more than back up Presley with the required one-liners. Many of the set-pieces are laugh-out-loud funny, and Elvis himself proves he can play an understated role with the best of them. Too bad Colonel Tom did not let make more pictures like this one.

It's on their Facebook page. They post the covers which will stay on the front page until other posts bump them off. TT always announces the pre-order date when they post their cover art. FTD cover can be easily found under Photos, click on it and you get the pre-order date. In this case, they announced on June 21 that the pre-order date for FTD is July 23. I updated the first post of the main TT thread that same day. It has never changed.

I'd love to hear feedback on the quality of the transfer. I am a little cautious with MGM-licensed films, the state of their catalog is not in particularly good shape.
