Hey fella's,
I've recently started to collect original Aussie Daybill posters for my theatre room. For those that don't know these are the long narrow posters handed out in Australian cinema's during the release of the movie in limited numbers. They have 2 standard folds. The older ones are slightly longer than the more modern ones...and they are becoming very hard to find. Here's a pic of my collection so far. I'm just about to get them framed and hung on the walls but I thought I'd take a pic first with them all together. Please excuse the crudity of the photo, it was taken with my phone. ![]() ![]() So does anyone else collect these particular posters? I would love to see others collections.... I'm still trying to track down a number of more rare and older ones like Star Wars, Jaws, James Bond etc... The oldest I have are Rocky (1976) and Alien (1979) and both are in exception condition... Post your collection up!! Nightopian. Last edited by Nightopian; 04-24-2014 at 11:28 AM. |

Daybills were printed in very limited quantities with the average print run being around 500 and bigger releases up to about 1500.
I remember growing up in Sydney in the 1980s there was a store on George St. in Sydney where any Daybill could be had for peanuts. I use to turn my nose all the time at posters that were five dollars or more. |

They look great when you can find them and are more house friendly in regards to having more posters with less space I have a laminated Lion King and The Mask from when the movies came out as a giveaway but they don't seem to do it anymore, now it's just cups or popcorn boxes
