Australia How do you deal with sticker residue?

I hate it when they put stickers on the actual case instead of on the shrink wrap. The last one I pulled off left some papery residue on the case that's hard to get off. I hate this.

Is there any good way of dealing with this?

Best stuff I found to use on any kind of stickers on cases is Goo Gone.
Just apply some with a cue tip and let it sit for a while sticker will come right
off.

Tip: Before removing residue take out artwork & put somewhere safe. You can also try using another sticker or sticky tape. I've ended up binning some ex rental cases if they're stubborn, not like replacement cases are that expensive.

Get you a small bottle of Goo Gone from the Dollar Tree, for only a dollar. Goo Gone works wonders.

It's not something I have to worry about because I don't purchase from places such as second hand stores or retailers that unseal them from the plastic wrapping for security reasons. Any sticker that the studio/distributor happens to put on the cases all come off with ease with no residue left behind. I have bought other media which hasn't been sealed, where sticky residue has been on the case after removing a sticker, but used a dab of eucalyptus oil on a rag or paper towel to gentally wipe over the area for a few seconds until it was gone.

A lot of times I will use the sticker from the top of the case (BD/DVD) or sides and tap it on spots where there is residue until it's gone. Sometimes I have to place the sticker on then peel it off really fast or tapping over and over again in the same location really fast. I always make sure to move around the sticker to different locations because it gets filled up with gunk (the sticker) and you need to find a fresh spot with more stickyness.

I'll also use some scotch tape rolled around my finger using the same method as above.

For the globs of glue on the SteelBooks, I just roll those off with my fingers, careful not to scrape the SB with my nails. I also take the glue off the paper inserts with the same method.

I don't deal with it because I don't care, but how one of the rental places I frequented dealed with it was lighter fluid, mind you the sticker residue was on plastic not cardboard.

Usually with another sticker and dab at it until it sticks off. Or go hard with Scotch tape, as that doesn't leave any residue.

Default Hair dryer + peanut butter

I have 2 words. CASH. CONVERTERS! They are the worst, but I have used this method on all surfaces with great success. What I usually do is take out any inserts, use a hair dryer about 20 cm away from the sticker for about 10 seconds, then peel away the sticker; if there is any residue left, I rub some peanut butter on the area and leave it for a while, then very lightly use my fingernail if there are any stubborn bits then wipe away the rest with a paper towel. If I don't have a hair dryer around, peanut butter alone will do the job (on top of the sticker or just on the left over residue) but you will need to leave it for a bit longer this way. Usually people will have these things around the house so I thought I would share

Speaking of which I just bought some used CDs from Cash Converters yesterday. Just threw out the jewel cases completely and swapped in new ones!

I used to do that when I bought DVDs because of how cheap I was getting DVD cases. BD cases are still not cheap enough to throw away

I don't even bother trying to unpeel the cashies stickers anymore, those cases go straight in the bin for a new case

lol?

Find the original hi-res cover art. Buy a professional printer and printing paper. Make sure to cut the cover out exactly perfect, and then put it in a new case. Is that supposed to be easy lol?

I never said you did. In the following sentence from the part of my previous post you quoted I also said this:

If this isn't the case when you are pulling these types of stickers off, then perhaps you are trying to remove them too fast and/or in a poor direction. If there is any sticker on the cover under the plastic not related to the release, then this is a clear indication that JB have resealed it, which I look out for and wouldn't buy that particular copy.

Peanut butter, leave it on for an hour then lightly scratch it off with your finger nail and wipe it away with paper towel

The stickers I am referring to are not on the inserts/covers, they are on the actual plastic of the case. When I can find genuine looking/feeling BD cases for less than *50c each delivered*, and in boxes of 30 or under then I will discard the old case and use the new.

It doesn't matter how careful and precise you are with the majority of Cash Converter cases, it is almost always the same result which is left over paper or sticky residue.

In my previous post where I said "these types of stickers", I was referring to stickers that distributors use. Try to keep up mate
