USA Gunsmoke, Rawhide, Bonanza, The Wild Wild West, Dynasty, Taxi in the works. NOT

Quote:
These first three high-def versions of older shows are just the beginning. The CBS team is currently working on Blu-ray-ready versions of “Gunsmoke,” Rawhide,” “Bonanza,” “The Wild Wild West,” “Petticoat Junction,” “Dynasty,” “The Beverly Hillbillies,” “Taxi” and “Twin Peaks” (with creator David Lynch helping with the restoration). The group is also more than halfway through a three-year spruce-up of “Star Trek: The Next Generation.”

I would like The Wild Wild West blu-ray as long as it's a proper transfer.

I wish someone would do The Rifleman.

But I'm super stoked for Twin Peaks, and excited about Petticoat Junction, Dynasty, and The Beverly Hillbillies too!

Well hopefully with stuff like Gunsmoke they can put a whole season together instead of this vol.1 and vol.2 stuff.

That's an impressive amount of support for classic television by CBS/Paramount! Thumbs up to them for putting in the effort for these series!

I am really shocked that they would even attempt Dynasty on BLU. It has taken forever to release seasons and volumes of the show in the U.S. We still have another season to go in the US! (Also many of the later Dynasty seasons were never digitally remastered like the earlier seasons were.)

They always claimed poor sales, I can't imagine all the seasons of these shows getting released to BLU. I think some shows if they want to release them on BLU go all out with full complete series box sets even if they do cost an arm and a leg.

I would think Hawaii Five-O, and Mission Impossible would be decent sellers.

A while back I checked out the HD version of Cheers on netflix and was shocked how great the first episode looked in that form of HD. It looked incredible IMO.

Well I hope they release complete series sets, not interested in compilations or bite size series sets.
If Taxi is in the works then it is only a matter of time for Cheers and Frasier, maybe even Happy Days ( with original music this time,if The Wonder Years can be released with original music I can't think why Happy Days can't )

haha... good joke about releasing Dynasty on Blu-Ray. I mean I would be happy even I have already all seasons on DVD (and mostly signed by the most main-actors, incl. Joan Collins, Linda Evans). Dynasty is since longer time complet on DVD in the german speaking parts. But I only will make the update when they're really restored and each season complet (and NOT half-season volumes).
Bonanza is already complet on DVD in Germany too and pretty good quality (even not perfect like Star Trek but much better than other series).
Im still waiting for next seasons of Falcon Crest and Knots Landing (I know, those are WB and not Paramount/CBS).
And what about "THE LOVE BOAT? Where are the other Seasons? Common Paramount!!!

I have a hard time believing sets that didn't sell well and/or weren't completed on DVD (especially Dynasty) would be released on Blu-Ray. And another TNG set? When they just started releasing them and haven't finished the series' run yet? Not sure how much I believe in this article, though obviously, I'm thrilled with this news...if it turns out to be true.

I can see these being done for syndication and possibly streaming but doubt they will be released on BD. My dad watches Gunsmoke, Rawhide and Bonanza on the Western Channel and they look pretty good even if they crop them to fill the 16x9 screen.

Why are some of you acting like this is a rumor or speculation or something? The article's author clearly interviewed CBS directly, and found out that these are the shows that their department is working on. Questioning whether these will be on BD or not, when CBS says they will, is just silly.

I have no interest in any of the shows mentioned but I am now hopeful that other series will be considered for Blu-ray in the future, like MacGyver. This sounds very encouraging - I take this as a sign that things are looking up for TV-on-BD.

Bonanza is addictive. So careful, if you're never watched it.

And it was on for 139 years so it is time consuming.

I would love to get Rawhide or Bonanza. Hard to believe they will ever come to Blu-ray though so seeing will be believing.
