Default SyFy Adapting Frank Miller's 'Ronin' as a Mini-Series

One of the best comic book limited series ever to be published is finally making its way to television. SyFy has announced that it's adapting Frank Miller's Ronin as a mini-series and that it's likely to actually make it to the small screen.

Quote:
The six-issue Ronin, with artwork painted by Lynn Varley, takes place in a dystopian future New York, where a Feudal Japanese samurai who failed to save his master from a demon is reincarnated. The demon Agat has also returned, and now the ronin hunts him, as they vie for control of the demon’s magical sword.

Syfy is currently searching for a writer for the mini-series, and the number of episodes has not been determined. Despite Miller’s many film adaptations, this may be the first adaptation to make it to TV, since there has been little news on the planned Sin City TV program

Horrible idea. Coincidentally, I just re-read the comic & it's superb; great mixture of two elements: dystopian/post apocalyptic sci-fi & feudal Japan. They should leave this property alone, since I don't see how this would translate well to the small or big screen....

Hollywood obviously doesn't have enough original ideas of it's own, so it has to constantly be mining comic books & novels.....

I love Ronin, probably my favorite Frank Miller or at least tied with Sin City. That said, I really don't know about this, particularly on Syfy, those purveyors of quality (though I do kind of like Face Off).

I have to say that I'm not too fond of SyFy adapting this either. Ronin remains one of my favorite Frank Miller stories, just below his run on Daredevil. I just hope the SyFy channel doesn't end up screwing up this adaption or just turning it into a two hour TV movie. Ronin deserves to be a two or 3 part television event, like the 2000 adaption of Dune.

I have a feeling SyFy wants to see how Krypton does first before greenlighting other DC projects. While I would like to see this one happen, something tells me it won't

While I agree, The Expanse has shown that if SyFy wants to create quality and stand behind it, they absolutely can (and will).

I like these comic book adaptations to screen, because i hardly ever read comic books. So, this should be interesting!

This was his first DC Comics project, it also helped inspire animated series Samurai Jack
